Market day & Tapas

Beautiful sunrise this morning.  The sun rise over the mountain across the bay in front of our apartment.

Started off today with a morning run/jog/walk along the water again. The wind is down compared to the first few days we have been here.  A couple of fishing boat are out on the sea.  We are going to need to find different routes, I have decided I am definitely not a runner and get bored very easily doing the same route.

Back to work for me today.  We got a usage report from the provide we are using for yesterday, ouch, this is going to be a big additional expense to our trip. So, no Skype this year to our friends and family unless we get some free Wi-Fi on our week-end travels.

Lunch today I decided I was too lazy to go for a walk so we just took some chairs out and sat in the little garden by the pool.  The wind is still a bit chilly, but if you can find a spot out of the wind it is beautiful.   You can hear the wave break.  Lots of sun again, but calling for showers the next couple of days.

Andre went to the market this morning, he was a little disappointed.  He came back with 5 mangoes for 3.00 Euro so I am happy.  He said he won’t bother going again, the market comes through here every Tuesday, too bad because he really liked going to the market the last 2 years.  The market was mostly clothes, watches, shoes.  All stuff we do not need.  There was a few fruit & vegetable stand but it was not any cheaper than the grocery store.

Small cemetery on the way to the market

Weekly Tuesday Market

Why did Andre not bring me back any of this?

Mostly clothes market, was hoping for more local produce

So this afternoon Andre did research on all the bars in town that give free tapas when you buy a drink.  So, after work we are off.  Problem is most of the places only open at 7PM, so good thing is that gave us more of a walk before supper.  Lots of small streets with little shops selling everything and tons of restaurants.  A lot more places to eat than last year.  The owners keep the street very tidy and clean.  You see them washing and sweeping all the time.  The church in the main square was open so we went in for a quick little visit.

Everyone always seems to be out sweeping and washing outside their shops/homes

New apartments/condos, not very many were occupied

Liked this daycare sign

Looking for tapa bars

not steps, just black and white cobblestone

First place we stopped I had a glass of red wine, Andre a small beer, I had some kind of bean stew with sausage which I passed on to Andre, he had Paella, total 3.80 Euro, time to try another bar.
Next bar repeat the beverage selection, and they brought us some olives.  OK, I thought worst tapas ever, but then they brought us some ribs and potatoes.  Really good.  Total 4.50 Euros, and the bonus was we sat right beside wood burning fireplace.  Not so good was, I don’t think, there was anywhere for the smoke to go up, it just came out, so it was rather smoky but bearable.

First tapas bar stop, you choose what you want from the counter, included when you order a drink

second tapas bar

This tapas bar gave us olives and a plate with ribs and potatoes when we ordered a drink, we didn't get to pick
Next stop was back near home and they didn’t have much left for tapas so we decided to move on home for the next round.  Andre added some eggs to leftover rice from yesterday, plus more wine, dinner done.

Cribbage up next, then off to bed.  Tomorrow plans for Wendy is work, Andre needs to put gas in the car, how is that a plan I want to know.  Oh, Andre does need to post this blog online with some pics too.
