Day 7 One last swim and homeward bound

Today we headed to the beach very early as we are leaving early to catch the ferry to return to our homes.

The beach at 6:30 in the morning

A very quiet beach at this time of the day

Us and pelicans

Our condo that we rented for the week. A bit messy after 6 days but it was a very nice place with a rooftop and a pool. We were on the third floor which is always fun with luggage.

Very large master bedroom

Spacious living room

A well equipped kitchen

Did not spent much time here as we were mostly at the beach.

Back on the ferry at 9:30AM to Cancun after a fun week on Isla. Our flight from Cancun is at 1PM.

Back on the mainland

Day 6 Beach day

Since today was our last day, we spent it at the beach. Did not take any pictures today, not sure why.

Maybe Joey did????

Also the power was out on the island, so it ended up being super hot in the condo without AC. It was finally restored.

This is where we had supper 2 nights ago.

Not sure where we ate tonight. Lots of people in town and the food vendors were out at the main square.

This is the main restaurant/bar street in town

The vendors at the main square doing good business with food sale

Day 5 Island Tour

Today we hired a driver with a golf cart for the day.  This way we can have drinks at lunch and nobody needs to drive. It was only a bit more than renting a golf cart. They cost $50 us and up depending on the type/size  you rent.  This may have been $30 more or so

First stop, on the south side of the island facing Cancun

We stopped at a small hotel for a tour that the driver had access to.  It was a fancy place. Washroom break.

Along the way

A few beach/lookout stops along the way

there is a story to the house but I can't remember

We stopped at a Coop along the way for the girls to do a bit of shopping

A visit to the cemetery for me to take pictures. Not at all like home as they are put to rest in above group tombs. I could have spent all day there, so many to look and take pictures of, not one the same.

Another beach stop but this side is not for swimming.

Our driver and the girls

So many interesting art pieces

Us a couple of days ago.

School or day care but probably a school

A few mansion/nice houses along the way

Conch Shell mansion. Can be rented as many of the house on the Island just more $$$$

With a grass rooftop

We got to the end of the island and paid the fee to visit the art work at Punta Sur which means South Point. The admission fees is something like $3. You also get to walk along boardwalk at water's edge.

The steel sculpture are rusting out as they were done many year ago but still fun to view.

Mayan temple ruin

Cancun, this is the closest point

Fish in the water

A small cave

No longer able to climb to the top for the views, this is the highest land point on the island

Zip Zipline park, the girls did not go, short on time anyway.

We went to a beach club that had a great sculptures display.  We almost had lunch there but we wanted to find a place where they make great BBQ fish. This was too North American for us.

Me

A stop to visit the turtle sanctuary along the way

Comorant

Where they keep eggs for hatching

We found the Fish place and it was delicious. It is an unique place. Not your typical restaurant.

Yummy potent drinks

Lots of food, is spaghetti Mexican?

Type of fish we had

The men preparing the fish. The special sauce that gives the fish a great taste

Fish is cooked over open fire but with a steel plate in-between

The final product

Yes of course

More great art work in a small town.

The market was not open today or was done for the day. Most time, markets are only in the morning

More golf carts on the island than cars

4 on a bike is somewhat normal

Another stop for pictures in town before being dropped off

More beach time for the rest of the day but not many pictures were taken.

For supper we head to the main square for some street food as everyone is still full from a big late lunch. Delicious and cheap, lots of locals
