7299
steps.
Today
we are flying to Naples from Malta.
A
quiet morning as we have to check out at 10AM.
Earlier
in the week, we saw an English breakfast for 5 Euros including
coffee, So we headed out that way, just a couple of blocks from our
Airbnb, just 40 steps down to the front door and then 75 steps up the
street. Builds an appetite.
This
place is a social club and we think it's related to the founder of
the city but not sure. Kinda like a Legion back home. 3 pool tables
and about 10 tables to eat at. Food was good for the price and will
keep us going until supper tonight.
We
then walked to the Triton fountain which is near the spot where all
the buses are. Spent about an hour there and then took the airport
bus for 3 Euros each. The bus actually drove all around the fort, so
we got a mini tour at the same time.
A couple of hours wait at the airport, 20 minutes late boarding the plane because
there was no bus available to take us to the plane. Then they
announced that there was a 40 minutes delay because the pilots needed
a break. Anyway, we got to Naples ok as we were in no big hurry. A
few people looked a lot more concerned that us. Did I mention the
lady with the 2 young kids right behind us which were either kicking the back of our chair, crying or laughing. Good thing it was not an 8
hour flight.
We
took the bus to the train station for 5 Euros each and our hotel ( in
small letters) is only 200 meters away. It is actually nice and the
bed looks comfy. I think it was build in 1926 but not sure.
Headed
out to a restaurant I had found on Google Map that I think was open
since 1821 but it was closed. Stopped at a fish market that had 2
tables but decided to move on as it smelled a bit and we had to share
a table.
Found
a small place that had been open for almost 100 years. Prices were
great and the food was excellent.
Stopped
at a bakery for a cannoli. You know that it is a good place when
they fill it to order. We choose pistachio ones and were happy with
our choice.
Moving again tomorrow, but this time it will be for 1 week, and we will be 3 people!

Breakfast time |
 |
Something about the social club |
 |
English breakfast, no mushrooms today, only 5 euros coffee included |
 |
The main walking street is even busy at 11 AM on a weekday |
 |
The locals call it the cheese grater, it is the parliament buildings. WW2 totaled the original building and this is what is there now. Locals do not love the new style |
 |
A bus similar to the one we took earlier in the week |
 |
Triton Fountain |
 |
The main bus station has about 50 bus stops. Great way to get around Malta. Would not want to drive here |
