Day 1 Travel and Athens

Off for another long travel day.  Today we are flying Moncton, Montreal, Munich, then Athens.
We will spend 2 nights with Jacques and Rollande in Athens, then off to Crete until May.

After leaving Moncton 1.5 hours late we didn't have nearly as much time to kill in Montreal. Why is Moncton always late departures and arrivals?

Munich was simple, no question about where we had been in the world ( a little scary that we were not asked ), but they did want to see our return airline ticket.  I was relieved that our Singapore stamps in our passports did not cause any concern, if they were even noticed.

Had to have a pretzel in Munich Germany airport

Andre almost had a beer as they looked so inviting. Beer on ICE

Smoking lounges in airports still exist

Get your own coffee in Munich. Andre had a cappuccino for 2 Euro

Super comfy chairs in this airport, rows and rows of these loungers

Wall art made of small plants

Ready for our final flight to Athens, raining, hope it stops before we get to Athens

First view of Greece

As we are driving the taxi driver is making notes of where we should visit

Taxi ride to central Athens from the airport is 38 Euro, and we are off.  Rollande is waiting outside their apartment for us when we arrive.  Fun to see friends, we have hardly seen anyone since we have been back from Asia .

This afternoon we walk all over the city getting a tour of picture spots that don't cost anything.  Jacques and Rollande have seen it all already, they are great tour guides.

Off for some night shots tonight, tomorrow we will venture out more.

Lots of newspaper stands

This is perhaps picture 35 of the ones that I asked someone to take for us, it was quite comical because he did all the same again with Rollandes phone

Hadrian's Arch

Changing of the guard, we will return tomorrow for the big changing.

For supper we stays in and had olives, cheese, salami, tzatziki and sweets we picked up at a bakery
