Off to Jordan

Go to front desk shortly after 6am for breakfast, no one at front desk, breakfast room not open, but it is supposed to open at 6? Lots of time so we go back to our room, finish packing up and back to front desk. The breakfast room door is a little bit open this time and another family comes up right behind us the door opens more and a woman in her PJ's lets us in, we are staying in quite the fancy place. This is our second breakfast here so we know where to find stuff so get the other family settled in as well. Tell them about the no more shuttle pick up, they offer us a ride to the airport! Lucked out on this one. Breakfast done and we are all off to the airport, our new Montreal Airport shuttle family. One of the women is a journalist who runs a paper outside Tampa and she asks if we will take a copy of her paper with us and send her some pictures of our trip to Jordan with the paper in it. We love this kind of thing so of course we are in. Her sister spent a month in Jordan doing an archaeological dig so we had fun talking to her as well.

We both have Nexus cards, so getting through security took no time, especially since now in Montreal you do not need to take liquids out or your computers out if you have Nexus, that alone is worth the money for me to purchase the card.

Not sure what travel day it is now. First flight is 12 hours, then a 6 hour lay over in Dubai, then another 2 hours to Jordan. Managed to watch the movies Bezos and Blackberry, not watching anything technical on the way home, though both were interesting.

We are met at the airport by someone before customs with names on a board and our Visas for Jordan, they take us to another line, so quick and easy again. Bus to our hotel in Amman with about 10 other people and get checked in. Weren't expecting fancy, got not fancy, but fine.

Ran into another couple in the lobby, we tell them we are going out in search for an ATM and water, they want to join us as they want to find some wine. ATM's and water an easy find, wine and liquor not so much. Google translate was used a few times and we finally find the liquor store with an escort. Moscow mules in a bottle, I figure one of those and I will certainly sleep through the night. Liquor prices are crazy high after our trip to Vietnam, more expensive than home. Dinner starts at 7:30 PM, we don't eat as a group which we both like, you just go for dinner whenever you like. Lots of yummy options, I love hummus could live on that alone. Early to bed, jet lag is setting in, but should get over it quickly by going to bed at 9PM and hopefully just waking up at 7AM tomorrow morning.

Love flying Emirates, even the back of the plane seems like a major upgrade for us.

Even decent meals on the plane

First camel sighting on the way to our hotel

Amman, known as the white city
