Our typical but lovely walk around the island with a stop at the market at the end. Overcast with the occasional tiny rains, ok since we had our rain jackets on this morning.
Very menacing and that is coming our way |
Wendy's new sneakers. Giving them a first breakin, hoping for no blisters |
Looking Northeast |
Looking Southeast |
One of the older boats, don't think it went out last night |
The big boats are in this morninig |
Big Boat, Little Red Car |
Found a puddle or 2 to play with |
For all the cat lovers |
By lunch time, the skies had cleared up and it was much warmer
Still a few breakers, but not as big |
Menu of the day, something with swordfish. This is on the waterfront, so prices are a bit higher. Looks like a 3 course meal |
Lots of people in the restaurants as this side is sheltered from the wind |
Lovely yellow flowers, like we have at home, growing wild in the rock wall surrounding the city |
Little deli, fish place near us. Love the wine cork door curtains. |
Went for an afternoon walk, dropped in at a travel agency to see if they had tours to Etna but no. Lots of tourists in town. Possibly the bus tours have started or just getting busy with independent tourist.
Before supper we walked the streets on town and it was a bit chillier. It was cloudy and windy as well.
Got the sunset side of the island but it did not look good. Only a small sliver of an opening and the clouds were pretty thick. We walked around for about 20 minutes on the waterfront waiting and hoping for something. The sun went down but the sky did not light up.
Just as we were about to give up, the sun light up the clouds from below.
The light beams coming from behind the mountains and shooting up were amazing. These photos do not do justice.
It only lasted about 3 minutes at the most and then it turned out dark. Probably one of the quickest sunsets I ever seen.
Beautiful sun beams |
On the way home we stopped at the fisherman restaurant to see if they were open but it was only 6:30. 7PM seems to be the opening time at many places. They had a special with snails, pasta and wine. Hopefully they will do it again next week.
Made pasta carbonara as a main and artichokes as a started and of course some wine to go along for medicinal purposes. I read somewhere that wine is good for you. The pasta did not turn out as great as I hoped but it was still good.
Great sunset pictures.
ReplyDeleteLove your new sneakers, but your pants seem to have a nice leg as well
