Day 17 - Singapore Changi Airport

We are off on our way back home today.  This has definitely not been the trip we booked, but we still had lots of fun and met some really great people.  Since being home we have not heard that anyone has contacted the virus.  A few people on the facebook group we are following have been tested, but it has been the normal flu and colds.  We are just about at 2 weeks since our return, and neither of us have shown any symptoms.  Andre has been to the office and is picking up groceries, Wendy volunteered to work from home for 2 weeks so is finishing that up now.  We knew 2 guests had been taken by ambulance from Cambodia (Can't think of anywhere worse I would have wanted to be picked up by ambulance) and they have posted an ear infections caused fever and tested negative for coronavirus, they were nice enough to post the test online for all to see. Over 100 people were forced to leave the ship at our first stop in Thailand, in hind site I wish we had gotten off there as well.  We could have visited these countries all by land for a much less price than we paid, all borders were open, they just weren't letting cruise ships into Vietnam.  There have been lots of letters going back and forth between travel agencies, clients, and NCL regarding refunds.  We will see what comes of all this in the next few weeks.   Until then, yes we will cruise again, but I still hate sea days.

At our breakfast this AM, just pick a donut!
Some final pics of Singapore airport, the most beautiful airport we have ever been in. Probably one of the few airport that people are happy for a layover.

Multi level walking path in the trees.

Train connecting the terminals.

The water droplets were in constant movement making patterns.

The circular thing is where the shopping, waterfall and forest are.

Day 16, Singapore

Arrived at the port in Singapore this AM.  We are not 100% confident we will be allowed off the ship, and whether we will be quarantined, so we are very happy to put our feet on soil.  The tour group we booked with are here with a bus to pick us up to take us to our hotel, it is a different hotel than the one we were at when we first came here, and a better location.

Back in Singapore harbour

We arrive at our hotel and first thing I do is ask concierge to help me find a way to get Nicoles suitcase to her in Vietnam.  He says give him some time and he will find a way.  We have a knock on our door it is the concierge with a whole bunch of paperwork for me to read for shipping the luggage by mail.  I must take all of the liquids out of the suitcase, unfortunately that is a lot of what is in the suitcase.  All set to go and the concierge walks us over to the post office in a mall close by and helps us get the suitcase wrapped up.  Fingers crossed that it gets to Nicole in one piece.

On the drive to our hotel we passed by some elephant sculptures, we had walked by here earlier last week, but never saw this.  First thing is to find those elephants!

Our hotel is in Little India, so we see more of some of the spots we visited last week.  We didn't bother going anywhere else this time, just spent our time walking around Little India.

A yummy Indian lunch, nothing too hot today and we could eat it all .

Liked these staircases
On a mural hunt again, they are really amazing

Back at the hotel, Andre goes to see what was going on at the park next to the hotel.  Not much going on at the moment, probably more of a evening thing.

Carpet made out of rice

Back to Little India for some sightseeing and supper.

Found a restaurant for Dim Sum for supper.  Shared a bunch of things that the recommended, can't tell you exactly what we ate, but it was good

We got this from  one of the cooks was passing a tray to the staff and offered us some. We took one piece. Was kinda sweet and gooey.  Not sure if it was an appetizer or dessert or something in between.

OUr hotel at night time.  We did go back for a break in the afternoon for happy hour and a swim in the pool

Day 15 - Another Sea Day

One more sea day, a little like groundhog day.  Tonight is the big finale show, which was really good.  Packed up, visited with friends, played trivia, ate, drank, and that's about it for the last day

Wondered what this was all about, he flew very close

Introduced Caesars to our friends. Also Rusty Nails

We met with our new group of friends twice in the casino for slot pulls.  Never hear of them before, but it was fun.  Everyone puts in $20 into the machine, then you each get to pull 5 or 6 times and then split the winnings.  Lenny was the lucky one that kept us in the money first day we did this, we weren't so lucky the second day.  Lots of laughs.  First day we left with $16 each, last day left with $0.

Jasmine Japanese restaurant, one more time for supper. Delicious
