PEI March 2022 day 2

Today we did a visit to a wood lot which was organized by the province.  It was a short 20 minutes  or so drive from the Inn in Cavendish.

We did a sleigh ride, enjoyed hot cider.

There was also a few exhibits on a short walk in the woods.

Time to change horse.

Waiting for our turn. Was not very cold but the wind was blowing.  A 30 minute wait but lots of fun

The family filled up the sleigh

We did 2 loops.

The rest of the day and a good part of Sunday was spent in the pool.  The pool was alt water which was great. It was around 35 feet in length.  The grandkids enjoyed it a lot. It was there highlight of the weekend besides each of them having a tv in their bedroom.

On Sunday we did a short drive around PEI National Park in the morning since we will be house bound the rest of the day as a snow storm is coming. It is basically behind where we are staying. Harmony and Antonio came with me and Wendy.

Saw 2 bald eagles. The 2 kids were more impressed seeing cows than the eagles.

Not many tourist this time of the year

We then did a stop  in North Rustico looking for ice cream but none were open. We also stopped to see the fishing boats, sheds and the lighthouse.  Stopped at the grocery store for ice cream but they were not open yet as it is Sunday. They open at noon on Sunday this time of the year. Brian returned before the storm and pick up ice cream for dessert.

A great weekend. The grandkids and parent are ready to go again.

On the way Friday we stopped at liquor store as we got off the bridge to pick up some PEI craft beers for me and coolers for Wendy for the weekend.

For meals, we had made a pasta casserole for Friday night. Saturday night I made Chicken Cacciatore with egg noodles. Sunday baked ham with smashed potatoes.  KD, hot dogs, salad and leftovers for lunches. Scrambled eggs , egg on english muffins with ham for breakfast. And of course breakfast of champions (Ice cream)  on the last day. Wendy made them eat breakfast first before they were allowed Ice Cream.  We got a Costco cheesecake for dessert which lasted 2 nights. And Ice Cream on Sunday night.

Enjoying Breakfast of Champions (Ice Cream)

The grandkids and parent are ready to go back anytime!  A fun weekend was had by all.
