Capri to Naples

 18,000 Steps

Today we move by fast ferry to Naples. We waited about an hour at the wharf as I wanted to do the fast ferry and not spend an hour on a boat that might rock. The fast ferry is only 50 minutes long, the slow ferry an extra hour. It is another nice day, so enjoyed some sun and just people watching on the dock. It is a huge ferry, and so few people going to Naples. Because we are leaving at 11:30 the day trippers are not heading back yet. If there were 75 people on this huge boat that would have been it. It wasn't rocky at all, probably didn't need the gravol that I took earlier when the wind picked up. We passed the slow ferry very close to Naples that had left an hour before us.

Arrived in Naples and I get a message that our apartment is ready for us. We walked up from the port, it is only about a 20 minute walk, and no steps! There are a couple of cruise ships in port, but we don't recognize any of the cruise company names, not sure if they are European.

Find the street that our AIRBNB is on, but we can't find the apartment building. Urgh, this is the worst things about using AIRBNB, sometimes they are hard to find, you usually don't have this problem with hotels. Anyway after a few back and forth going to open spaces to try to get a wifi signal we finally ask a man if he could phone the landlord for us for some help. We now find our way into our building and she says she will come over to help us. She had sent some instructions and we hadn't received them yet because we are still using our sim card from Malta and roaming, something for us to resolve tomorrow, time for an Italian sim card.

We are on the 4th floor of the apartment building, 75 steps up,, we think the elevator is not working, urgh. But the woman's brother has been sent over to help us, turns out you need a fob to get in the elevator, which is up on the 4th floor. Not only a fob is required, you also need to put a 10 cents in to make the elevator move. The owner has left a dish of .10 coins for us to use.

We head out for a walk and discover we are in the graffiti area of Naples. We have been to Naples once before and really liked it, so decided to add our last couple of nights with Joey here. We call Naples the rougher city, lots of garbage in the streets, lots of graffiti, but for some reason we really like it. We have a walking tour booked for tomorrow, but today we do Andre's walking tour. Andre's walking tour also involves a stop for a spritz after a stop for some pasta for lunch. A great tour, but we didn't tip him too much. I think my favourite spot is still the Spanish Area, the little tiny streets looking up the hill that are pedestrian only.

Back to the apartment for a break and then we head out for supper at a little restaurant just up the street from us that has great reviews. Reviews were right, dinner was fantastic. We started with 3 little apps that we split, arancini, stuffed zucchini flowers, and a potato croquet. All were good, but the zucchini flowers were really yummy. Finished off with a margarita pizza, which Naples is famous for. Very yummy. A great first day in Naples.
