Rainy day

Slow moving this morning, we can hear that it has been raining out as our bedroom is on the road side and you can hear cars going by periodically and the splashing from tires. The drain right in front of sidewalk at our front door is clogged, so we will need to be careful when exiting later, nice splashes of who knows what coming up on the sidewalk.

Decide to do a little cleaning at the apartment. I asked for the broom when we first arrived, he showed me a little had held sweeper thing and dustpan and showed me where the vacuum was. Well I'm not about to get on my hands and knees to sweep so vacuum it is, put that task onto Andre while I looked after bathrooms and kitchen. Done. It isn't nearly as dusty here as our last apartment so this may be it for vacuuming.

The rain did not amount to as much as was forecasted. We got out for a nice walk this morning, I wanted to pick up some olives at the market, so that was one thing we accomplished. Just walked around some streets to get out of the apartment, then back for lunch at home.

Did some research on where we will go tomorrow and the next couple of weeks. It seems much harder here than it was from Nice, much more expensive to travel, but some ideas and we will go to the train station later to see about tickets. There are 2 train stations here, one for fast trains and one for the local trains. Fast train tickets go up in price as time goes on and go on sale about 3 months before the date.

Walk again in the afternoon with the one thing we wanted to do was get some ideas for tomorrow and also ideas for next week. Found out there is a ticket that you can by for 20Euro that you can travel wherever you want within a certain region for the entire day, so one of these purchased for next week. Tomorrow we can hopefully just by a ticket from the machines for our day trip, that we should be able to do.

Walked home and we had been told about the clock tower in the L'Horloge Square that there is a little man and woman on top that clanks the bell, similar to the ones in St. Mark's square in Venice. Since it is close to 5PM we quickly get to the square with about 5 minutes to spare. It is hard to see this clock, you have to be at the right angle as it is a little hidden by the city hall building. To add to confusion the city hall building also has a small clock, this one shows 5:05, but we think the clock we have come here for has it's own time, yes we find this but it is 5:20. So next time we will try to get there 20 minutes before the hour so we can hopefully see this.

Back home and Andre made couscous and vegetables that we have bought from the market the last couple of days. A quiet night again, looking forward to exploring more of Provence again tomorrow.
