Puppet Museum

Morning walk, a little bit of rain in the air this morning, but some sun too, it is a strange day all around weather wise.

Love all the blue doors/windows

Water is so clear since it is a cloudy day

Hope the rain stays away
Nothing like getting the Jackhammer out at just past 7 in the morning

3 sailboats at anchor this morning

Getting ready to go out

These signs are at the bridge where you cross onto Ortigia Island, this is common in Italy to see these signs when you enter a town, you have to quickly decide are you allowed to go here as a tourist?

Archimedes was born in Syracusa, this is an interesting bronze statue right at the bridges onto Ortigia.  A museum is right around the corner from our apartment, it is on our list to visit before we leave.
The poppies are fading

Cheese and sun-dried tomatoes display

Cheese not bread

Our breakfast starts with 2 glasses of fresh squeezed OJ every day. Oranges are .75 Euro peer Kilo

Lunch time walk today we got a few errands done along with our walk.  We had cancelled our car rental for this weekend last night, but this morning we got our confirmation of our car rental for the weekend.  First stop was at the car rental place to make sure it was cancelled, and we also upgraded our car to one size bigger when Ron and Nancy are with us next week to travel to around the western part of Sicily

Next stop was we wanted to see if the little fisherman restaurant was open tonight, and if so make reservations.  It was open for lunch, so made reservations for 8PM, but we did not leave any names, could be interesting.

A little piazza near the fisherman restaurant

Best bird of paradise I have ever seen

Hanging at someone doorway

We see a few of these around town

Unique door handles

What are all these people doing here?

Tugboat coming in

Most house numbers are plain here, not like this

At 5PM we headed to the Puppet museum.  When we went to the puppet show a couple of weeks ago for 1 extra euro you could also get admission to the museum.  We finally made it after work today for Wendy

They tried to so a Pinocchio show but Disney said no

Similar to the ones we saw at the puppet show

Went looking for the Jewish baths, this is another thing on our list before we leave and we weren't sure of the opening times.  Plan on going there tomorrow for wendys lunch, there is an English tour at noon.

Used to be a Palazzo but now a bank

Wendy loves the flower pots on the balconies

It rain this afternoon so we waited until the last 7:45 before heading out to walk for supper at the little fisherman restaurant.  The rain had stopped and hoping it will stay that way. Only about a 10 minute walk there.

This is the street in front of our house. It is a car street as well
We ordered a 1/2 litre of wine. The owner/waiter can out with a 1/2 litre glass carafe and then poured in in the steel jug on the table.  Wendy had Ravioli stuffed with fresh ricotta cheese. Probably the best meal we had so far.

Stuffed sardines for Andre, notice wendy has no food, only 2 tables in the restaurant and he ordered the wrong thing for wendy so she had to wait.

Sweet wine for dessert

I walk back to the apartment with Wendy and decide to go see if I can get some nice reflection shots since the streets were still wet.  Wendy is done for the night so heads off to bed

Not many people around tonight but is is also almost 10PM
