Last morning walk in Ortigia and bike ride

Our last morning 7:30AM walk this morning.  Fun to have Ron and Nancy along with us.  Went to the market to pick up things for supper, we have decided to eat in with a bunch of different appetizers for our last night here, we will be eating out for the next week.

Large yacht at anchor this morning

Another one at the marina

Lat bunch of fishing pictures

Will miss out friend in the morning

Back home and Wendy spent a bit of time working, then we went off to rent bikes.  There is a 7KM bike trail along the water in Siracusa that we wanted to do.  It was a nice morning, that turned into a few sprinkles of rain, but nothing bad.  Some very pretty views, and fun to do some biking for a change from walking.

The bike trail I believe is the old railroad tracks.

War memorial

After returning the bikes we had to stop at the place that makes the best gelato. Nancy and I had dark chocolate and pistachio. Andre had a pistachio semi fresco which is a little bit softer than gelato on a cake base. Delicious

Andre and Ron went to the market to buy a sandwich for lunch.  There is a sandwich place in the market that Andre has wanted to try since we have been here, but the sandwich is huge, so he is glad to have Ron here to share with.  Nancy and Wendy went home to make salads for themselves, proud that they did not get lost on the way home even taking the back streets.

Start with zucchinis and sun dried tomatoes

Add a tons of fresh mozzarella cheese

Add cheese, mushroom and mashed potatoes

Add prosciutto  and bacon that is cooked with a blow torch

Oh yeah, there also ricotta cheese in there and possibly other stuff

After lunch decided to go out for another walk.  Looked in a few stores, it is getting cooler so we cut into the side streets.  We came across a little store that sells beer and has a couple of tables set up outside.  We have always wanted to stop here, glad we finally did it.  The sun is shining and we are out of the wind so it is very warm.  Beer for everyone, except Wendy who got a little bottle of champagne.

We won't see it finish

The busiest we have seen this place.

Tonight Andre decided to make a bunch of small plates for supper.

Caponata, cheese & meat tray, Blood Orange & Fennel Salad, Mussels, Sautéed Calamari, Bruschetta, Artichokes and nobody took pictures. Wine was drank and finished the meal with a lemoncello.

We did go for a walk to check out the sunset half way between plates but it was rather bland, so no pictures again.

Tomorrow travelling West through Sicily.
