Caye Caulker BDay party

No plan activities today, It is going to be a recharge yourself day.  Mid-morning walked to the far end of town with Team Germany 1.  Our hotel is at the north end of this part of the island. They stopped at the ATM for money. I now know where it is as I will also need to go as I am getting low in cash. They also stopped at the Post Office for some stamps.  Along the way there was a bakery and I had a cinnamon bun with icing, thinking of you, honey.  It was delicious. We had breakfast at a restaurant that is on the beach.

We hung around the hotel for a bit just relaxing and chit chatting.  There are a few street vendors here.  One of then near the hotel has a BBQ going with Shrimps, Chicken or Conch brochettes.  I choose the Conch one and it was good.  He spices up a BBQ sauce with habanero peppers and a few other things.  It came with rice and coleslaw, delicious with a capitol D. Went for a quick dip to cool off and then back to the hotel for some R&R and a couple of R&OJ.

One of the guys is turning 61 today.  We are off to a beach which is called the split. The island is divided in 2 parts by a channel that is about 200 feet wide.  The south side is where everything is and the north part where there is no electricity and only a hand full of houses. The split is only about 500 feet from where we are staying.  We head there around 3PM for a dip and a couple of drinks.

The leader has ordered at cake to be delivered there for 5PM.  This beach is beautiful and the bar plays reggae music all the time. At 5PM there is no cake yet. The Cakeman as he is called arrives at 5:45. This is what they call Belize Time here.  The man was really surprised.  The chocolate cake was really good as well.  The bar gets very busy at sunset as this is a great place to watch it.  We all watch the sunset.  It was beautiful with reggae music playing.  People even clapped when the sun finally went down.

Quick shower and we are off to supper at a restaurant that sits on the water.  The place was really busy.  We got the last table.  6 of us for supper, Team Germany and the young boy who enjoyed it so much last night he wanted to come back.  He had Cajun shrimps and they were good and spicy.  I had Jerk Chicken for supper.  The waiter says that it is spicy.  I hoped it was going to be.  Well I have to say this is probably the spiciest meal I had in a least a decade.  It reminded me of Jamaica many years ago. I eat every bits of it except for the tasting that I gave to the others as we all tasted each other’s meals.

The usual routine after supper and I am off to bed at 11PM as I have a busy day tomorrow.
