Day 14 Flying Home

Final Day of our trip we hope. We had 3 flights today and if all goes well, we will be home a little past midnight for a total of about 24 hours from the time we leave the hotel until we get home.

 Fingers crossed.

Hopefully this is a good sign and not a bad one of how our day will go today.

First time that we got a boarding card with the 3 flights on it.

Very quiet at the Athens airport, security was a breeze. Also no one at our gate, perhaps because we were at the wrong gate?

Can't read Greek, good thing they also show it in English.

A good cappuccino to start the day with.

Good sign, they plane is here

The hotel had 3 of these in the room for our breakfast.

Looking good, we are onboard, next stop Frankfurt.

Candy Crush even says Wash your hands.

So many planes are grounded

Leaving Athens

Potato  omelet, it was actually good. Greek yogurt with honey as well.

The plane is about 1/2 full. We had emergency row and only the 2 of us.

Frankfurt

Not sure if it is a crane parking lot or they are building something.

Very quiet here also.

More than 1/2 of the regular scheduled flights are cancelled.

No sit down places are open

My kind of McDonalds

Albert was here

1 Euro, best deal at the airport, we also had a Pretzel.

Our plane is here waiting for us. Pretty sure we are not sitting on the upper level.  They were offering upgrades to business class for 1/2 price. 349 Euros or about $1000 CDN for the 2 of us, we will pass

We are sitting in Premium Economy. Lots of leg room and only 2 seats wide instead of 3.

Excellent meal with red wine and a cold beer for Andre. Wendy enjoyed her Wine with a Gin & Tonic after. They came by with coffee and baileys. We skipped the coffee but had the baileys.
Before landing they served up ham with mustard and a bun. Very good.

Toronto was about 1/2 as busy as normal.  Enjoyed Pad Thai at the Thai Express. The flight home was on time and we both slept on the way to Moncton.

Marc & Mary-Sue had dropped off the car earlier in the evening for us and were very happy to see it  and grateful to them for that.

I strongly don't think we picked up anything in Crete as they did not have any reported cases in the town where we were staying and I think only 3 cases total on the island of Crete.

If we catch anything, it would be most likely at one of the airports or on one of the flights.  We tried to wipe down everything we would touch and washed our hands often.  Time will tell.

Now we are in self-isolation for at least 14 days.  Thanks Jacinthe for doing a grocery run for us and filling the fridge.

We are lucky that both of our work lets us work from home. Thanks for everyone who sent us Safe Travel messages, much appreciated.  I am fortunate that I was able to postpone my leave and am back to work on Monday.  I need to take 6 weeks off before I retire in February.

Not sure when our next trip will be, we have something planned for November and sure hope it is cleared up by then.
