Today was forecast for lots of rain in the morning, and it
definitely happened. We have 2 open
courtyards in our house, and both of them had lots and lots of water in
them.

Pouring rain in our courtyard |
Today we had planned to do the bike ride again on the closed
streets that we did the first week-end we were here but the rain has cooled
everything off so much that we decide to walk instead of bike. Andre also wants to take some pictures using
the puddles for reflection so easier when walking. Also discover that Andre now lost 2 lens caps
and broken his sunglasses again and lost one of the lens. It is going to be a long couple of weeks with
no sunglasses for him, plus we have the Dominican Republic coming up. Lens caps drive me crazy, he spends a small
fortune on camera equipment but refuses to hook on a lens cap. Not sure how many he has at home, but he
tells me he didn’t bring any spares, my pet peeve for sure.
We left the house as soon as the rain stopped. I had it in my mind to get fruit shakes at
the same spot we stopped the first time we did the bike ride, they were so
delicious. Not nearly as many places are open because the weather was so crappy
earlier, the fruit shake place is closed…

Normally the streets are filled with walkers and bikers on Sunday, not so much today |
Off we go and find a little Mexican
place and I have those delicious chips with chicken and sauce on them, Andre
had eggs on tortillas with a red sauce.
Delicious fresh squeezed OJ, Jamaica juice all for $10 including a nice
tip.
Walk further down the street and Andre sees a bakery that he
wants to go into. I should have just
kept walking. Wow, the treats in here
are amazing. Found a few treats that we
couldn’t leave behind and we are off again.
Across the street there is another juice place so we go in there and get
a delicious juice.

Do you think he looks like a tourist? |

Walking back down the Paseo. This is a beautiful street with sidewalks lined by trees, and lots of mansions.
|
Starbucks coffee and a donut for $2.00. Same as home I think (NOT).
|
We also visited this house that was built in 1908 and completed renovated in the 1970 keeping many of the orignal features as possible. It is now a banquet/meeting facility. The gate was opened today and the man inside said we could go visit including going up the tower.
|
We've admired this mansion every time we have gone by because of the tower, fun to get to go in |

This mansion is now a museum. It was built by Canton, the same person that built the house that we are staying in. It must have been amazing when it was a home.
We walk back toward Santa Lucia square where there should be
dancing and live music for the afternoon. Not as many people here today, we get a chair
no problem. We have been here for this
so many times now that we recognize some of the characters.
|
If you want a picture of the band you need to take it before they start. Too many dancers afterwards. |
The taco lady is here again, we decide that we can make room
for some tacos and that will be our supper.
It is now about 2PM, so an early supper it will be.
Back to the apartment for a siesta and time by the
pool. This is the first day we haven’t
been in the pool since we have been here.
It is only 26 today, which is about 10 degrees cooler than we have been
having, but this is only lasting for one day, tomorrow we are back up to the
hot hot hot weather.
