First dip in the Mediterranean Sea

This morning, we headed to the port area for our morning jog.  No much activity except for a couple of fishing boats coming in from their overnight fishing trip.  I think we will be skipping jogging tomorrow morning as both of us felt like our legs were sore and heavy.

I went for my eye exam at 10 am.  I wanted to get a pair of prescription sun glasses.  The exam was free and you were not obliged to buy a pair of glasses.  Just plain free.  Gotta love that.  For icing on the cake, the optometrist was female and not bad to look at.  Makes taking the exams that much easier.  I picked a pair of frames that I like and paid for them in advance.  A grand total of 97.50 Euros which is about $130 Canadian for the exam and glasses. I have to pick them up on Monday at 4.

At lunch time, we walked to the beach area. We were determined to go for a swim in the Mediterranean before we leave here.  Let’s just say that the water is not as warm as it is at home in the summer but not as cold as the Bay of Fundy or Old Orchard Beach.  We took turns going in as the other person took pictures.  Wendy dipped a few times, with one of them she actually kicked for a few feet to make it official.  She did not want to get her hair wet as it takes too long to dry.  Anyway that was her reason for not diving under water.  As I can’t use that excuse, I dove in one 100% and swam for a few yards.  We stayed on the beach for about half an hour to enjoy the sun and then we headed back to the apartment for the rest of the afternoon.

These guys had hoods on, and we are about to go swimming

Brrr, it was chilly

After Wendy was done work, we headed back to the beach area.  We had seen in Valencia that they had a drink called Valencia Water.  Wendy wanted to try it.  We found a bar/restaurant that was in the sun as the wind is up today.  We were lucky and got a table that had a wall blocking the wind. Wendy finally had her Aqua de Valencia, and really liked it.  We also ordered some Tapas, fried sardines, and french fries with a spicy sauce.  We also had a bit of entertainment, 5 guys showed up that had obviously had a few beverages already. We heard them say one of them was getting married. Anyway after they had been sitting for a few minutes one of the guys got up with only socks on and started heading to the beach, he stripped down to his underwear and went into the water.  One of his buddies went to the water too, stripped down, and promptly turned around, this was about 6PM by this time, it was cold at noon when we were in, by now it would have been really cold.  The whole bar was laughing at this, and he turned around and took a few bows from the water, very funny.  He got out, looked around a bit, then just got dressed, it must have been very comfy putting his jeans on top of those wet underwear!  Back to the bar, lots of applause and bows, very funny.  We also heard them say that one of the guys with him was Allen Carr, I googled him, and he is some British Comedian, it was funny for all of us that is for sure, wonder what the rest of the night will be like for them.  I did make one more mistake at the bar, I mentioned to Wendy that her hands looked wrinkly, I am not earning any brownie points here at all.  What I meant to say what that they were dry, not sure, what I was thinking…..

On our way to have a drink after work

Tapas

This little guy wanted some tapas I think
We left the bar at about 6:30 and headed to the grocery store to pick up some chicken for supper, I had promised Wendy piri piri chicken for supper.  Back home, a couple of games of cards, watch a bit of golf on TV, then off to bed.  Looking forward to some travel adventures tomorrow, time is going by way too quickly here!
