Back to our morning routine.
We headed towards the beach area and ran along the shore as far as time
permitted and returned the same way.
Morning was spent just hanging out and surfing the internet for plans
for the rest of the week.

Part of our morning jog/walk, this is the first walk part |

Here he is again! |
For our lunch time walk, we headed towards old town but took
a route that took us more into the orange orchards. Very quiet road with only 1 or 2 cars passing
by. It was also nice and warm there as
the road you walk in is lower than the land on both sides. No ditch here as the side walls are made of stone
ranging from 3 to 8 feet high. Some of
the stone walls look like they have been there for a very long time. There were
also some nice flowers along the way and some big plants that looked like aloe vera. Some of the orange trees were hanging over the road, and I think I
should be allowed to pick them. Public
property extends upwards, but Wendy said no.

On our lunch walk, these plants were huge! |
|
These should be free for the picking, don't you think? |
|
Amazing old walls along road |
After lunch, I biked to a restaurant in the port area to
make a reservation for tonight. I found
on the internet that they had a dinner and movie special. Afterwards, I biked
around the port area for a bit. There
was a few men sport fishing at the wharf.
They were doing good and catching some large fish. I should have bought a fishing rod when I got
here, it would have paid for itself.
|
Water is so clear you can see the fish |
Checked to see if the church was open and it was. The ceiling of the church resembles the
bottom of a boat. It is a modern church
both inside and outside. It is fitting for
this area of town as there are lots of fishermen here working and probably
living here.

Outside of Church, very modern looking |
After exploring the port area a bit, biked to the other side
of town, pass where we went jogging this morning. I had seen on Google map that there was a
couple of coves. At the first one, there
was a man in a wetsuit and a spear. I
did not see him get anything. The cliffs
here have a lot of limestone and they are white. Very pretty.
There are 2 tunnels along the beach.
I followed the path that went up the side of the hill and behind them to
the second cove. Once again very quiet
place and beautiful. I was the only one
there. Looked like a nice place to go
for a dip. That is our goal for this
week as the water is still pretty fresh here.
There was a couple of paddle boarders following the coast. I thought of you Lima.

You should be here Lima |
On the way home, my plan was to stop at a bar that is right
on the water for a nice cold beer. But
poor little me, the bar was closed for the rest of the afternoon as it was now
past 4:30. I guess it must be only open
for lunch time at this time of the year.

My plan for a beer, I arrived too late, closed for the day |
I biked a little bit further and saw a sign explaining the ditch
that we jogged by and over this morning. The Romans had cut the Tosca stone to
make a ditch from the sea to let the salt water flood the salt fields further
inland to make salt to salt the fish.
Later on in the medieval time, they had a water wheel that they used a
horse to operate to flood the fields.
Now it is just a ditch.

Ditch to move salt water to fields in earlier times |
We left at 6 to walk to the port for supper and see the
English movie Gambit. Supper was pretty
good. The restaurant was very
nice. Nice décor and it had 2 arches
that were made out of Tosca stones. I
think there was only 2 other tables there and there was 2 waiters. The presentation of the food was also probably
the nicest have we seen so far. We
ordered a second glass of wine to go with our main course as the first one went
down too quickly. The bill came to
$48.00 Canadian, not bad for a 3 course meal each in a nice restaurant, wine
and a movie.

The movie was ok, no Academy awards here for sure. Cameron Diaz was in it. We were going to go for a walk before the
movie started but Wendy saw a lineup, so we decided to go in. Well the theatre seats about 400 people and
there was about 60 us there. Let’s see,
5 Spaniards, 2 Canadians and 53 Brits.
Pretty much the same when it came to ages, 7 of us under 65/70 and 53
over. It was subtitled in Spanish, so we
learned a few new words. This was the
first time that I have been to a movie with an intermission. This may surprise some of you but Wendy fell
asleep before the intermission. I had to
get an ice cream just like they do in London theatre shows except this one did
not cost me $7.00. This was also the first movie theatre that went down for the first half of the seats and then went up for the next half.

Movie theater, lots of empty seats |
