Sailing Competition and Granadella Beach & Hike

For the morning walk, we went to the beach area.  There was a group doing boot camp and thought Lima would like this.  We also another job that there is not much demand for in Canada.  Palm tree relocator.

This morning I went to watch one of the sailing races.  There were 6 boats racing divided in 3 groups with staggered starts so that at one time all 6 were racing at the same time. The boats are all the same and are 28 foot long with a captain and 3 helpers.  It was fun to watch them.  I watched 1 race and headed home.

When Wendy was done work we headed out to a beach called Grandella.  I had heard that it was supposed to be pretty.  It is only about 15 minutes’ drive there and the weather was announcing rain.  So best not to go too far today. Once again the road down to the beach is full of zigzags but not much traffic and semi wide road. The beach was rocky not sandy like at home.  It is at the mouth of a deep cove.  We stayed on the beach for a while reading. I went to the restaurant and bought a beer to enjoy on the beach for $2.00 Canadian.

While there we saw some people hiking on one of the sides of the cove.  There is an old fort at the end of the point.  The guide I had said it was about 1 hour each way.  We decided we could use a bit of exercise and found the start of the trails.  The first bit was paved but very steep.  After 15 minutes or so of steady climbing we turned onto a dirt road for a while.  Then we started going up and down the side of the mountain until we reach the ruins.  Nothing too impressive but the views along the way were very nice.  Wendy especially enjoyed the part where she had to hold on to a chain so cross a tough section to stop you from sliding down the hill as there was not much grip.  The hike was rated moderate and Wendy said that is hard enough for her, nothing harder.

Hang on tight, it is a long way down if you let go

Lots of great hiking trails around here, excellent marking system

This area has a list of about 15 scenic lookouts and a few of them are in this area.  We stopped at a couple to admire the views.

It started to rain, so we headed straight home via the grocery store.  We picked a few things to make pasta.  We got 8 large shrimp looking things.  They were delicious and tasted like lobster.  We also had to pick up some of the delicious ice cream.  One lemon and one orange since it is Friday night.  Once again Mmmmmmm.  Watching a bit of the golf and then will be heading to bed.
