Up early this morning, fishing boats have a really early start this morning, they should take Sundays off.
Decide we better do the 15 minute hike to the lookout before it gets too hot, so 6:45 we are off and it is already hot. I guess since it said lookout on our little map the hotel provides us it would involve a bit of climbing. Glad we put on sneakers, a bit of scrambling over rocks involved, but rewarded with nice views on top. There is a 2 hour trail that circles the island but we heard from others it is not worth the effort so we passed on that.
Breakfast is served at our table this morning, no empty platters. Food has been really good here, we have enjoyed every meal. Not always sure what we ate even though the menu was in English on our table, but it was good.
One last snorkel in front of the hotel, showers and pack up for our 15 minute boat ride for our transfer to Quy Nhon.
It was a 3 hour car drive to Quy Nhon. The first 45 minutes were absolutely beautiful, and the last 30 minutes beautiful as well. The remainder of the time was through small villages which was still nice to see, but the beginning and end coastal views were really fantastic.
Checked into our hotel and off exploring. Andre is on the search for an external hard drive, his is not responding, could it be the tile floor it dropped on? No luck today, but since we are only here 2 nights will put the search off until next stop.
Walked about 3 km of the 5km beach. Since it is around 4pm the beach is full of locals coming out to enjoy the beach once the sun is going down. A section of the beach is roped off and life guards are on duty. Life guard sign says hours are 430am to 830am and 3pm to 640pm. Exact opposite of what we would see at home for life guard hours!
Picked up a mango at a street vendor and had her cut it up for us. Also got some water chips and crackers for backpack snacks. Popsicle not to be saved for later, salted lemon flavor.
Walking the beach today we notice there are no umbrellas or chairs for rent anywhere along the beach. This market has not made it here yet. I can't take the sun so need to find something besides the beach to do tomorrow.
Had supper at Quy Nhon sports bar, some really good pizza. After 3 weeks we were ready for a little change from Vietnamese food. The owner of the bar was who found our private transfer for us, and booked our hotel for us. She's working hard to develop tourism here.
Today's Pictures
