Veteran Day Parade, Broklyn Bridge & Rockettes

Our first full day in NYC. We had breakfast at the apartment, which our plan is to do every day.  We had picked up some groceries yesterday as we figured it would be easier and cheaper to have breakfast at the apartment than going out to find restaurants.

Started off walking down 5th Avenue, so many names we have heard and seen in the movies over the years. Tried visiting St. Patrick Cathedral, but it was just too busy, will go back again another day. The street is blocked off for the veteran day parade.

Rockefeller center had the skating rick open, so much smaller than what it looks like on TV. They are getting ready to decorate the tree, but right now it just has scaffolding all around it.

Vererans day, all the flags at Rockefeller Center were American flags

Which magnet should we get?

Visited Grand Central Station, so impressive. I love that they have kept so many of the old things here, like the wickets where you get tickets.
Loved this bridge leading to Grand Central Station

Chrysler building, but we were only allowed in the lobby as it is a holiday today.

I think this is where Diane and Wendy purchased $5.00 scarfs, it was chilly!

The library is also closed because of the holiday, would like to try to get back here too.

Picked a spot along the parade route to watch the Veterans Day parade. It took a very long time for the parade to get going, lots of respect coming from those that were watching.

Jeep problems, fun to work on when you are wearing a kilt!

Next we took the subway to where we could walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Huge line up for Starbucks to use the bathroom, and also got a hot chocolate.

It is a beautiful day, the Bridge is very busy with both tourists and locals taking advantage of the gorgeous weather.

Seemed like everyone was walking across the Brooklyn bridge today

We had lunch in DUMBO at a little cheap Italian place at 2:30, packed again, we couldn’t all sit together, but it was more of a takeout place anyway.

Walked around the Brooklyn waterfront, a few brides out getting pictures taken, and some nice views of the city
Not sure what she was wearing, or where she would have bought it?

Took the subway back to our apartment. Picked up some sangria and wine for the apartment. A break before the Rockettes show tonight.

Free santa hats at the Rockettes tonight. A great show, gets you in the Christmas spirit. Those dancers are so talented, they really move as one.

A little disappointed after the show as we walked around to see lights and nothing is lit up around Rockefeller Center yet, even though we can see the lights hanging.

Stopped at Empanada Mamas for a drink and snack before calling it a night

27,500 steps today
