Little Italy, Chinatown, Food tour & Speakeasy

Today we watched for a bit outside NBC Studios, but nothing too much was going on so we moved on. Wendy lost and found her metro ticket, so all was good.

Garden that we passed by most days when we left the apartment

Setting up for taping outside, it would be an hour wait so we moved on

Took the subway to Little Italy and Chinatown. I think it would be much more interesting to see at night, it was very quiet. We did have an excellent cannoli that was filled in front of us in Little Italy.

Chinatown:

Took the subway back to Macys to see Christmas Lane on the 9th floor, really just Christmas decorations for sale.

Coolest escalator every, Diane led the way

We were in the snow globe!

Nice to see Empire State Building in the light. Happened upon Bryant Park, which was really nice to see.

Skating at Bryant Park

Food tour with Ziggy this afternoon. We visited 4 different stops.

Started with Chinese soup dumplings,

Tribute to fire station that was around the corner from our apartment.  The only fire department to lose the entire shift in 911

Soup dumplings on our food tour, delicious

Apps at a Druzo place.

Then Ecuador for our main course.

Ended up at an Italian bakery for dessert - Sullivan St. Bakery

It was a fun tour with Ziggy providing us lots of information on the area.

After the tour we happened across happy hour at a spot for $5.00 Moscow Mules, so decided this was a good place for a break.

Tonight we had a reservation for 9PM at Bathtub Gin, a speakeasy not too far from where we were staying. We took our first bus which caused some laughs when Diane thought the machine was going to keep her pass, but we did make Diane go first. It was a fantastic evening, expensive drinks, but the Jazz band and singer were fantastic. Once we actually found how to get into the place it was a great evening.

We had a bit of a walk in light rain and wait for the bus home, but we did make it home around midnight. Another very fun night.

Day 4 - 23,600 steps
