Started off this morning walking to
Rockefeller Centre. The TV was on this morning in the apartment so decided to walk
down and see if the Today show was doing anything outside. It is
amazing how much smaller this area is than what it looks like on TV.
Hoda was outside taping, she walked around signing lots of
autographs. It was pretty cold outside, and today the Rockettes were
doing part of their show for the Today show outside. Brrrr, these
girls were not dressed to be outside! We stayed for the taping, fun
to see how it is all done.
Hi Hoda! |
Much warmer inside than out |
We had booked an NBC studio tour for
this morning so that is where we are off to next. You meet the tour
in the gift shop which was fun to see all the different things they
have out. They have a Today show desk that you can sit behind for
pictures, as well as one of the chairs that turns on The Voice. We
were able to visit the sets for SNL, Jimmy Fallon, and one of the
news shows. All very interesting to see, and again smaller than they
look on TV. We didn’t have tickets for any tapings, and didn’t
want to wait in line for stand by so we will leave attending a show taping for another trip.
No pictures allowed on the tour, which was kind of disappointing, will just have our memories.
After the tour we walked around and looked at some of the decorations on 5th further down that we hadn't visited yet. Also popped into St. Patricks Cathedral again, much less busy today. They were setting up for a concert for later in the week so couldn't access it all, but still so beautiful.
Next we walked to Central Park, mostly to say we had been to Central Park. This is a huge park, the main thing we visited was Strawberry Fields, where there is a nice mosaic with Imagine on it.

Loved the decorations on this building |
Not sure why this even made the blog, the taxi maybe? |

Next we walked over to Century 21 for
shopping. Diane had been told this was a great place to shop. None
of us had any room to bring anything back in our suitcases, and it is
only a good deal if you are used to paying big $$$ for clothes, we
all passed.
One of my clients had told me about a
restaurant called Ellen's Stardust. All of the serving staff are supposedly trying to break through on Broadway and they sing on a small stage
here between serving you. It was a fun atmosphere and a nice break from the cold outside and walking
Walked down to the TKTS booth in Times Square to pick up some last minute tickets for a show tonight. I had read about Ferryman and wanted to see that, Andres co-worker had recommended The Play that Goes Wrong, so we decided whichever was the best deal we would do. If you are purchasing tickets to a play there is a very short line just for plays, musicals are in a longer queue. It was less expensive to The Play That Goes Wrong, so our choice is made, we will see a comedy tonight.
Had to kill some time before we could purchase tickets, no better place to do it than an M&M store |
Back to the apartment for a break then
off to Broadway again. This show was hilarious. The show actually
starts before the show time by the actors being out in the audience.
It was laughs right from the time we walked into the theatre. A
great play and a great way to spend our last full night in NYC.
Went to visit Times Square again at
night, impressive every time you go. Stopped for Empanadas on the
way home for a snack and some drinks, then hope by around 11PM.
