Tried to sleep in a bit this morning as
it was a rough night of sleep last night.
Up at 9AM for work again, it is very
weird starting at 9, it seems like lunch comes so quickly!
Andre went out this morning for a
little bit then came back at lunch time so we could go out again
together. Today we went to the tourist information centre which is
very close to where we are staying to get some information on things
to do tomorrow afternoon and the week-end with a rental car. Right
now this is the only time we are renting a car, the rest of the time
we will rely on buses and trains for transportation. So much of
Italy we will be spending in big cities, no way would I want to drive
in them anyway. No good maps of Tuscany region at the tourist info
so we found a bookstore that sold maps, along with our GPS hopefully
we won't get too lost!
Candy shop. I say the curtain is for privacy, so you can buy all the candies wants, Wendy say it's to keep the candies cool. |
First orange tree we have seen in town |
The stores have 2 opening times here

Back to the apartment for lunch then
Andre headed out again to figure out where we pick up our car rental.
He also toured a couple of areas outside the wall of the city. We
will try to get out exploring a little more once we get back. He has
also found the area that tourist info told us we could park at no
charge over night, a few more euros saved. He found a cemetery and
will return to take more picture when he has more time.
Movie posters on one of the walls |
Abandon house outside the wall |
red cross center in Piazzale Don Baroni for refugees |
River about 1 KM from the wall |
Trees outside the cemetery |
Did the full wall walk again after
work, there are markers part way for how far it is, but they have
been working on part of the walkway and have new pavement that covers
over the markers. We think it is between 4 and 5 km, will have to
check with tourist info next time we are there.
Back to the apartment, minestrone soup
on the menu for supper tonight, along with a bottle of red wine of
course. After supper another walk through town. Stopped by the
outdoor skating rink that is open until the end of the month, we
haven't seen anyone skating there yet, but we're not down at that end
of town too often. 8 Euro for 1 hour including skates.
Back at the apartment now, just
finished winning at crib again and I am ready for bed. Really
looking forward to the week-end. I am taking 1/2 day vacation
tomorrow, will go exploring somewhere by car, overnight back here,
then who knows where after that. We don't have anywhere booked yet,
but Tuscany it will be, probably the Chianti region.
