Happy Valentines Day

Woke up this morning again for 9:00 am starting work. I can't believe how late I am sleeping in, maybe something to do with all the alcohol last night. I had every intention of going for a walk/job before work, but that didn't happen. Tomorrow I am setting the alarm for 7:30, we'll see if I just hit snooze or now.

Andre hung around the apartment this morning and worked on the blog and his pictures. Caught up on Facebook with some amazing pictures for what looks like a major snowstorm yesterday at home, 50-60cm of snow from what we have read. So glad we are here.

We heard the doorbell around 10AM. Andre picked up the phone and said he be right there. The police were doing a check. Wanted to know his name, how long we were here for, who we were renting from. The policewomen did not speak or understood much English. We told Miss Sonia and she said it was normal and asked if she had left a slip or ticket with us, Nope. Hope they are not coming back or if they do, someone that can speak English would be nice.

Lunch time we decided to go for a walk before we ate, then on our walk we decided to pick up a couple of slices of pizza and ate in a square in the sun. Another beautiful day here, about 15 degrees and lots of sun, so far we have really lucked out. The square where we ate had a fountain where you could wash your hands and fill up water bottles, these are all over the city. The women seem to carry an empty water bottle with them in there purse and then fill up when they pass by. Also nice to be able to give some water to your dogs, lots of dogs in town being walked.

Afternoon I spent at work, Andre went exploring and taking pictures around own, came back with another dish towel so I am happy. Andre also visited an old villa that is now an arts centre which has a few movies showing as well, but all in Italian.

After work I was ready for a nice walk, poor Andre barely got back from his last walk. When you walk in town you are pretty much just inside small streets and can't see much except for what is right beside you so tonight we walked the wall. It is about 4 km around the city we think, this was the first time we had walked the whole thing. Lots of people out biking, jogging, walking, and taking their dogs for a walk. What a great place they have here. It is nice to see a lot more around you besides the streets and shops. It took us a little over an hour to do our walk.

Tonight we needed to cook some hamburger meat that we bought two days ago that was supposed to be supper last night, so pasta it is again for supper. Started off with some brushcetta on toasted day old bread which turned out really nice. A good way to spend valentines day with a bottle of red wine. We picked the best bottle of wine that we had. 5.5 Euros minus 50% off, why not it Valentines. Pasta and the wine were both delicious.

We decided to go for a walk to see if there was any activity going around for Valentines and get a Gelato for dessert. Only found 1 place and they were closed since it was past 9. Totally walked around in a circle outside the amphitheatre, We turned right instead of left when we came out and kept walking on a circular street until we arrived on the street that we were thinking we were already on. We are still getting mixed up at this end of town! Streets are pretty deserted, we are definitely in a quiet section. About the only things open in the evening are the restaurants and bars, I'm sure more shops are open during the busy season. We found a bar that had Lind heart chocolate and bought some. Andre also remembered that he had bought a heart shape cooking on his walk this afternoon for dessert as well.
Andre's the best husband in the world.

Back at the apartment we finished the wine with out desserts and work on the blog before calling it a night.  Did I mentioned I won both crib games tonight.
