Hanging Aound town

Happy Birthday Dad!!! Spoke to Dad earlier today, everything sounds good at home, they are off to Saint Hubert for chicken for supper tonight.

Today was my first day of work here. Got Skype set up for phone calls, seems to be working well. Internet has a very strong signal, so I don’t see any problems going forward with working from the apartment. Andre went for a walk this morning for 1.5 hours while I was working, came back a little before my lunch break. For my lunch break I wanted to go for a walk to get some fresh air, so we went for another 45 minute walk. It is very nice here today, just over 20 degrees, our first day in shorts and t-shirts. Came home and Andre made us lunch, we were able to eat out on the balcony, I can get used to this.

Back to work for me for the afternoon, Andre did some updates for pictures on the blog, then after work off for another walk. Tonight we walked to the opposite end of the beach from where we are, we were headed to what is called `The Strip`. The Strip is basically a mile long stretch of bars, restaurants, and a few little shops. It is about 2.5 km to walk there from our apartment, we did it by the beach which was an adventure. We ended up going places I am sure we were not really supposed to be, up and over rocks and high cliffs, I am so glad I had my running shoes on. That is the first and last time we will do that route. When we got to the end there were danger signs, why they didn’t have danger signs at the beginning I don’t know...In all we walked about 2 hours tonight by the time we got to the strip and circled around by the road. After seeing this part of town I am really happy we are in the older section of town, much less commercial.

Spot on the beach woth lots of seashells
Looks like 2 animals, on our walk along the shoreline

After our walk we decided to treat ourselves out for supper. Last night we had walked by a little restaurant that sounded interesting, so we headed there tonight. Andre had sardines, I had chicken piri piri. Both were very good, with a 1/2 bottle of wine, and olives and bread, and small glasses of port at the end worked out to be 21.00 Euro, not too bad we thought. This place is pretty much directly down the hill from us by the beach, we may go back. There were 2 couples from Canada sitting beside us. Like other places in Europe we have been to when there are people at the table beside you you might as well all be at one table as you are so close together. One of the couples was here for 6 weeks last year, returned this year for 2 months, and next year have already booked again. There are a lot of Canadians here, as well as many from the UK. One of them was born in Banff, imagine that.

Andre is planning on going to a market tomorrow. They have a market twice a month, the first and third Tuesday, so tomorrow is it. We'll see what he comes back with.

That is about it for our day today, I can already feel the tired legs saying they are ready for bed. It is now 9:30 and we've been sleeping 10 hours a night, amazing what no TV watching, and lots of walks will do for your sleep habits. Until tomorrow....
