Today we are sticking close to Avignon, tomorrow we have another big day planned. We started off by walking to Villeneuve-les-Avignon, which is 3 KM on the other side of the Rhone from Avignon. We never get tired of walking over the bridges and looking back at the city, this is where the best views are. Thursday is market day in Villeneuve-les-Avignon, we were there another time on a Thursday but didn't spend any time at the market, so today we are fixing that.
The market is very big for such a small town. It is a beautiful day out, and fun just looking at all the things at the market. We purchased some Pastille for supper, some blue cheese which Andre had run out of, and some beautiful greens for a salad to go with the Pastille.
After our shopping spree had a rest at the little outdoor coffee spot at the end of the market and went to the little bakery to pick up some Pain au Chocolate to go with coffee. I ordered a lemonade, which was not a lemonade, it was more like club soda with maybe a splash of lemon. It came in a little bottle and it did say limonade, not sure what I actually had. Another thing we have gotten wrong here is filet mignon here is what we call pork tenderloin, how is that even possible?
Back home across the bridges again, the water seems to be back to the same levels as we have seen since we have been here. People are parking in the lots by the river again, no rain in the forecast so it should be OK.
Pretty lazy afternoon. Walked to the train station to look at the schedules they have posted there as I don't trust what tourist info has given me, and there are very few options to get back and forth so we need to get it right. Outside the train station Andre spots a hair dresser school, off he goes to get a hair cut. I walked down to look at pictures from snorkeling/diving that have just been posted outside and told him to meet me there. Andre finally arrived and he told me he broke the record for the longest haircut he has ever had. It took nearly an hour! Hair washed twice, and the student had to be supervised and given lessons during the cut. They thanked him for coming in, 13 Euro later and he has his long overdue haircut.
Plans made for tomorrow, still not sure which bus we will take, but that decision will need to be made soon for alarms.
Steps today 14,500 or 9 KM
The outdoor field is on the other side of the river from Avignon, so the kids walk there
