A cleaning of the apartment done this morning before Joeys arrival later this morning.
Check the arrivals online and Joeys plane is running 10 minutes late, take our time getting the tram to meet her at the airport. Arrive at the airport and her plane has arrived 10 minutes early, oops. I'm in line for the bathroom and she ends up in the same lineup as me. At least we got there on the right day!
Back to the apartment, Joey gets settled in, we have some lunch and off we go. Our experience is it is best not to sleep on arrival, try to get on the right time zone as quickly as possible. Lots of walking and exploring old town. Our sample of ice cream and sorbet done at a spot that was really busy earlier this week, but no lineup today, 95 flavours to choose from, no wonder the lines moved slowly.
Took the elevator to the top of castle mountain, that has no castle, for some views, it is another gorgeous day. Took the elevator back down and walked along Promenade d'Anglais. Back into old town and find a spot that has happy hour, time for a beverage. Unfortunately we were on the shady side of the street and it was a little cool, will know better for next time. Maybe this is why their prices are very low.
Back walking again to find a butcher shop that we had also seen doing rotisserie chicken. The butcher packages up your selection, then puts it on an overhead conveyor belt that takes it to the cashier to pay, we haven't seen this anywhere before.
Chicken for supper planned, next stop was a fruit/vegetable stand for a salad to add to the chicken with some leftover bread from lunch. A great supper, will be repeated if only to see the conveyor belt at the chicken place in action again.
Supper done and out for another little walk. Follow along a new pedestrian street for Joey near our apartment, just a couple of blocks done and ready to call it a night. So impressed that Joey has made it to 9PM.
Felt like we didn't do a lot of walking today but still managed 15,600 steps. The adventures continue somewhere tomorrow with Joey as a sidekick along for the next 2 weeks.
At the airport, see the planes leaving
