Fundy National Park Day 1

This weekend we are spending it in a yurt at Fundy National Park for 2 nights.  We took the afternoon off to get there early and do a bit of hiking.

We drove the back roads to Riverside-Alma via Caledonia Mountain way.

The view of the Bay of Fundy and the village of Alma from our yurt.

The information center suggested we do Maple Grove trail.  To be honest the colours were not great but if was a good hike. It is about 4.5KM one way. All downhill going and all uphill coming back with over 600 elevation.

We may get this cabin this winter and do some snowshoeing.

We then drove to Wolfe Lake and did a short hike from where the campground is.

This would be fun but they do look small

This is how much sunshine we saw this today

Moose ???

We finished the afternoon with a 3rd hike which is an easy one, only 3 KM along a bog and lake.

Back at the yurt, we made quesadillas on the wood stove in the community kitchen. The rest of the night was spent reading in our yurts with lanterns providing light. The yurts have solar lights but they do not provide light enough to read.
