Fundy National Park Day 2

Marc & Mary-Sue are joining us for the hikes today.

Our first hike is Third Vault, it is rated difficult and about 4KM one way.  The hard part is the last 3/5 KM which is steep.

Very hiking on the first 3KM.

Small brook next to the path with rocks covered with moss.

Steep stairs

After doing a bit of scrambling you get to a lookout for the falls.

Tallest fall in the park.

I climbed to a spot next to the falls for a few extra shots.

A few moaning on the way up again but we all made it.

A few more mushroom shots on the way back.

It is now lunchtime and we drive to the picnic area at Kinnie Brook.  Afterwards we decided to do the hike from there.  About 150 steps get you to the bottom of a dry river bed.  The river flows under the bed.  It is a 1.5 KM one way.

Our final hike for the day is Black Horse. It is a loop hike and is 4.5 KM long.  We love loop hikes.

We saw a few woodpeckers this weekend.

In a normal year, you can reserve these back country cabin but you need to carry everything in for about 2 KM.  Maybe in the winter for some snowshoeing. we could use a toboggan.

The 4 of us decided to have supper in Alma.  The first place only had snacks, the second place was full.  Nothing exciting at the Pizza which was takeout only.   The bake shop was not open.  Other places were not open.  Saw a sign for Alma lobster shop and they were open. Only found out that the lobster season was now open after we had ordered.  I would have gone for lobster instead of fish & chips. Oh well. We were treated with a beautiful sunset.

The view on the way to the washroom.

Almost did ice cream for dessert but they only had 3 flavor and none too exciting.  Only pumpkin pie for dessert.
