Lameque Day 3

Today we explore the remainder of Lameque Island, the east side since we visited the west side yesterday afternoon.

The view from our cottage

They were fishing something, oysters???

Our first stop is to look at the peat moss field not too far from where we are staying. Peat moss is a large industry on the island.

We follow the coast up to Pigeon Hill with a few stops along the way.

Pigeon Hill is at the top of Lameque Island. We go for a walk on the beach up to the end.

Wendy would not let me drive our new car on the beach, so we had to walk

A shark on the beach

From Pigeon hill we drive to Chaisson to go see the big Shippegan lighthouse.

Road vendor that we got apples from yesterday

we did a quick stop to see the cranberries fields but since it was Sunday, they were no working and we were not allowed to visit.

Now lunchtime, we drove to Shippegan and found a Subway that was open.  We found a spot to have our sandwiches on the boardwalk.  After lunch we walked it to the lighthouse and back.

Crab fishing is a big industry here

The rest of the day was spent driving home with no drive by shooting of pictures.
