Lyon to Bordeaux

Long travel ahead as we are taking the FlexBus to Bordeaux, which is an 8 hour travel day. Trains are incredibly expensive for this trip, we saved over 200Euro by taking the bus, total 26Euro per person, with us purchasing the panoramic front seats on the top of the double decker bus. Turns out that the panoramic seats are pretty much windshield covered in bugs, but no one in front of us, no one behind us as it is the stairs down to the first floor of the bus, so we are happy we did it.  Most of the drive was on toll highway except for a section to do 2 quick stops to pick up and drop off people.  This trip we packed a lunch as last times the prices were ridiculous and the sandwiches we got were not great.

Arrived in Bordeaux at about 5PM, huge temperature change from yesterday, about 15 degrees cooler and I think this is what we have in store for our week here. We are not complaining, yesterday was just too hot.

Made it to our apartment, first impression of Bordeaux is it is a little rough around the edges, but tomorrow we are booked for a free walking tour and we will get more of an introduction as we will visit tourist info as well.

Our apartment is on a square, so lots and lots of light compared to the last 2 places we stayed. Once before we remember having an apartment like this, you open the door and you are in the bedroom.

We have made our first trip to the grocery store which is very close, tomorrow we will hopefully visit a market for more fresh things. Lots and lots of restaurants around, we will not go hungry.

The grocery store is right near the basilica, so disappointed to see that the bell tower seems to be all under renovation, looks like we won't be able to climb it.

Dinner at home tonight, it will be an early night we are both tired. Amazing how sitting on a bus all day gets you tired. First load of laundry done here, it seems like we always have a load hanging since it takes a couple of days to dry.

For the 4th apartment in a row people haven't signed out of Netflix, so I guess we can still can get caught up on some shows.

Steps today 12,000 or 7.25 km

On the way to the train station from the AirBnB

I think this may need work

Where the priest from yesterday lives

I was surprise to see this.
Does not look like an Acadian lobster boat but maybe from NS

One last view of one of Lyon's beautiful walking street

Just outside the train station now

Not where I would stay in Lyon (next to the train station).
But there a metro station very close by and convenient to catch the train and buses.

View from the second floor in the panoramic seats, The side window was clean. Well worth it

Scenic drive, more mountainous

Lots of bike lanes in all the places we stayed at

At red light level

A cute unusual fountain

We detoured off the main highway and climb way up

Different architecture in this area.

Also more stone houses/building.
I think they may be volcanic as the is a UNESCO site here that has a bunch of volcano hills.
La Chaine de Puys

Bad pictures but the horses we so pretty here. All brown with blonde mane.

Lots of billboards along the highway promoting little villages and towns
No other billboards.

Did not see too many vineyards on the way to Bordeaux.
