Darwin Area

Today is our last full day in Bordeaux. Start off a little late this morning by walking to the Capucins market. A much bigger market today with vendors set up outside around the market as well as inside. We didn't pick up much as we leave tomorrow but had a great fresh squeezed orange juice and picked up chicken for lunch or supper later.

Back to the apartment for lunch and then after lunch we head to Darwin which is on the other side of the river from where we are staying. This will be the first time we have walked across the stone bridge and visited this side. The rules about UNESCO and not changing the buildings do not apply to this side of the river so you see all kinds of things. On the way to Darwin we passed by the Botanical gardens, so a quick visit here. Then we arrive at Darwin which is an industrial area that has been taken over and rejuvenated. Skateboard parks, restaurants, and lots of graffiti. Andre also found online that today is a tasting wine day as well, for 10Euro there were 52 vineyards represented and they all had multiple bottles of wine, cider or some had hard liquor. We stayed away from the hard liquor, wine and cider were dangerous enough. We figured by the time we tried champagne and 2 bottles of Chateauneuf du Pape we had already make up more than the 10Euro entry. The entry fee also included the wine glasses, we left those behind. It was a fun afternoon, a few couches were set up so we took breaks and just people watched. I went with Andre tries 2, I try 1 which seemed to work well.

Walked back home again and stopped to get some french fries, everyone needs french fries when they have had plenty of wine. Back to the apartment for a quiet night and then on the move again tomorrow. A great last day, but time to move on from Bordeaux.
