Alarm set for 7AM as there is a bike race starting at 7:30 on Promenade des Anglais. We thought it would be everyone starting at once, but they seemed to be starting in groups of 8-10 people with about 15 seconds between each group. This was definitely not a professional race, lots of recreational bikers out there, there would have been at least 1,000 bikers all together we would guess. We watched for about 30minutes or so then back to the apartment for breakfast.
No big plans for today so decided to walk to the second Tintin exhibition in Nice that is out by the airport. We hadn't walked much this way yet so it was a nice change. We made it all the way to the airport, Joey could have saved some money if she just walked. Along the way we saw some large busses for sponsors for the professional bikers, as well as many many support vans. We will need to do more research when we get back to find out the times for tomorrow for the start and finish.
The Tintin exhibit is in the Asian museum, and because of this some focus us on Chang. It was a very interesting story to read about. I now know more about Tintin that I ever thought I would. Andre says he is going to sign out the books when we get home from the library. Andre loved Tintin as a child, I think Tintin may have given him the bug for travel as well.
The museum also had 2 floors of exhibits from Asian countries. It was very small, but a fun thing to do on a rainy day with free entry and clean bathrooms, always a plus.
After the museum visit we took the tram back to our apartment. Could only get one ticket to work even though we had purchased 2, lucked out and no one was checking tickets today.
After lunch we headed out again. Still needed to purchase a magnet for this part of France, and Andre had seen a nice picture looking up at 4 buildings that he wanted to try to duplicate. Successful on both fronts.
We took the elevator up to Castle Hill, the hill with no castle, one last time. First time we have seen the Ferry to Corsica in port, Andre says I would never survive that trip.
Back down from the hill and walked along the waterfront. Bikers are returning to the finish line now and picking up their medals. We got some information for tomorrows race, hope it is not raining too hard as it would be fun to see.
Back to the apartment, one last load of wash, working on cleaning out the fridge for supper and a quiet night.
For a quiet day still managed 25,600 steps, or 16KM.
The square is now clear of all the carnival stuff
For supper we had this thing we got at the pasta place a couple days ago. Not sure what it is and what it is called. I think it's like polenta so I make garlic polenta fries. They were good for an appetizer, then we just had crackers & bread with hummus, cheese, tzatziki, olive tapenade and salami.
It looked better at the pasta place, I guess a few days in the fridge changed the look of it
