Fun with plumbing

Another beautiful sunrise this morning even if it was partly cloudy.

We did the same jog this morning as we did not want to take a chance that the road along Playa El Playazo might be too muddy because of the rain.  It was still overcast this morning but better than yesterday so we did not take rain jackets as we had done yesterday.  We also jogged instead of power walking.  Not too much difference as our jog is almost the same pace.

Looking the other way from the Balcom

This dog was funny, he ran past us, stopped just before the corner then peeked around it to see if something was there.  He then slowly rounded the corner and then was looking for something.  My guess it was another dog that might have chased him.

Vanishing road

On our way back from our jog.  From the Balcon

We had breakfast inside today as the breeze was up this morning.  The rain followed shortly but did not last long.  Spend the first part of the morning finishing yesterday`s blog and posting it.

Antonio the complex handyman came around 10AM to try to fix our blind.  The spring recoil is not working great.  You can’t pull the blinds all the way up.  He was in last week and partly fixed it so we could go 3/4 up or down but not all the way.  He said he did not find the part in town yet as it is very old.  While he was here, I asked for a screwdriver to check the drain in the shower.  It had been draining slowly.  I figured it was full of hair.  All clear there.  So Antonio undid the lid where the shower drain meets the other drains.  It looked more or less OK.  I told him it is probably just clog along the way with soap scum.  I asked him if he had a snake to the able to give it a cleaning.  He says something and returns with a plunger.  Not really what I had in mind. He dumps a bucket of water in the shower and gets to work on the plunger.  All kinds of scum/crap came up.  He says “Looks like someone had a shit in the shower”.  Pretty sure it was just soap scum but good enough for a laugh.  It was quite hilarious, running back to the kitchen to refill the bucket, it being dump and Antonio making some comments. Well many buckets of water later with the plunger doing its work, the shower is now draining properly.  I figure “Draino or Mr Plumber” would also have done the job. Thanks Antonio, you did a good job.

Before having our lunch, we decided to go to the Donkey Sanctuary.  It is just pass the SuperSol, over the Cobblestone Bridge and about 200 metres further.   When we started, it looked ok outside but this is looking the other way.  We made it up to the bridge and a light rain started to fall, so we opted out and will either go tomorrow or next week.  One thing we noticed was that below the SuperSol, Little Italy has another  restaurant, Little Italy 2.

After lunch, the weather cleared up a little bit.  I saw online that on Thursday there was a Market at The Boatyard Bar.  http://www.nerjatoday.com/nerjanews/whats-on/ and here is what there is: Stalls are Spices, Cookbooks, Pet Treats and Dog Leads, Ladies Clothes Rails, British Produce, The Simply Delicious Sauce Company, Fresh produce Tomatoes, Onions, Sausage Rolls, Scotch Eggs, Bread, Bric a Brac, Lots of Paperbacks at only 1 euro each. Purses, Wallets and gifts. and lots more. Enjoy a coffee and cake whilst you browse for only 2.50 euro.

I got there and it did not look like there was much going on, might have been the weather as well.  I did not go to the bar in the back of the boatyard to check it out either but there was no sign of any activity going on.  Maybe next week.

From there I walked to the far end of the beach.  Along the way, a restaurant was making paella outside.  The cook let me take a few picture.  He said it would be about 15 minutes before it was ready.  There was a group of people inside, so I believe it was for them.  It sure looked good.

At the far end, there was a pen with 10 or so ponies.  One of them almost kicked another one that was coming to see me.

From there I walked along the rocks to see if there was a path to get up the rocks to the main road but no such thing.  Walked back and the restaurant at the far end had a path that led to the main road.

No way out, I think

I now walked the main road back to town, where I stopped at the SuperSol to pick up a few little things.   Since it was now 3:30PM and Wendy has a demo starting, I decided to stop for a Beer & Tapa.  I had delicious calamari in a tomato sauce.  Not sure the name of the restaurant but it is on Avenue Castilla Perez and about ½ ways going down to the beach on the right hand side.  They also had quite a few tapas to choose from.  Some of them  I believe they cooked to order like shrimp brochette and some type of chicken.  I may need to go for groceries twice a day now that I found this place.

I made a pitcher of sangria, so that it would be ready when Wendy was done work.  I forgot to mention that this is special sangria made with Pink wine.  I was planning to but Vino Tinto but pick up rosé wine by mistake.  It is actually tasting good, so no complaints from the boss.  Today I picked a 1 litre tetra pack of Vino Tinto for 1.20€, so the next batch will be made the right way.

We decided to go out supper.  Wendy had Thai in mind.  We settled on Asian Ben restaurant near the church.  They have about 200+ items on the menu. We both has Hot & Sour soup, it sure was.  Wendy wanted Pad Thai noodles and we asked the waiter for recommendations. We then split Spicy Noodles with prawns & chicken Bangkok style as suggested by the waiter.  We both had a glass of red wine and the bill was a bit under 25€.  We then walked around town for a while where Wendy found a pair of sandals she liked.  Does she (Imelda Marcus) really need another pair of shoes?  I guess so because these are for après golf.  On the way home a light rain started falling, we hope this is the end and that we have a nice dry Friday & weekend.

Our yummy supper

We played crib twice tonight and we both won one set of best of 3.
