Palm Springs - Araby Trail Hike - Date Shakes - Whitewater

Up early this morning and the first shock is that Donald Trump will be the next president of the US. Wow, what a shock.

We are off for an early hike today to be done before it gets too hot.
We leave our place around 6:30, a short drive to our hike starting point, then about a 2 hour hike.

Our condo has the famous Purple Room where Frank, Sammy and Dean hung out in the 60's.  Now a supper club

Our swanky condo!

Beautiful views of the valley. We hike up by Bob Hope house that he used for entertaining, what a gorgeous spot. The road up is private, but on the hike you have some very nice views of this home, as well as some other beautiful homes.

Stretching on the top

You could see for miles from the top

Back home and we stop for quick showers then off to Gilles and Johns for a great breakfast.

After breakfast we head out to visit some of Johns relatives, one of his Aunts is leaving tomorrow.

Street lined with beautiful palms

Had to watch for speeding in this park, 1/2 mile is hard to judge

From here we go for Date Shakes, and a taco at their favourite spot. I had read that date shakes were a must, and they knew the spot to go, yummy.

Information centre

Very yummy!

We then headed off to Whitewater which is an oasis a little out of town. They had never been there , it’s been fun to find places with them that they have never been to. This would be a great place to come for a picnic on a hot day.

Whitewater

From here we head back to town, time for a swim, then we will be off to friends of theirs for drinks and out to supper with them. These friends were at Gilles and Johns wedding earlier this summer
Really fun visit tonight, starting with drinks at Benoit and Lionel condo in Palm Springs. From their home we basically walk across the street to a restaurant with a fantastic patio. This place is packed, a goldmine. Possibly the most expensive burger and salad we have ever had, but we had a great night visiting and chatting and basically closed the place
