Grand Manan Day 2

First stop this morning is at the southern tip of the island to see the lighthouse and the cliffs.  Half way there we hit fog and we can barely see the cliffs.

We decide to do a hike called flock of sheep.  It is about 1 hour return trip. Many nice views along the way and not too hard hike. A few small cottages/House along the way.

The start of the hike. A warning sign to probably stay away from the cliffs here

We did a quick stop at Deep Cove Beach. The sand was almost black and very packed, great for walking on.

The next stop is Seal Cove where many Herring Smoke House from the late 1800s and early 1900s still exist. Some in not so great shape. Even found a B&B that we can buy. Also did a nice walk on the beach. It is also the location of where we would have taken the boat to go on the puffins tour.

Many fishing buoys but I will limit it to 1 picture here

A quick stop at the ferry terminal to change our return trip to 3:30PM from 5:30PM. This way we will get home at a more reasonable time.

We now head to hike to the Hole in the Wall. At one time you were allowed to do cliff side camping here but no longer.  It is a loop hike with many nice viewpoints. Wendy saw 2 whales as the fog had lifted. A $4 service fee per person is charged to do the hike.

Next stop is a visit to Swallowtail Lighthouse which is near the ferry terminal.

A stop at a convenience store to get something for lunch and them we headed to the Castalia Marsh for the picnic tables and a short walk on the beach.

At the farmers Market

The scallops shells on the beach, not sure how they got to be in this pattern.

A quick stop the pharmacy where Wendy did not find what she was looking for but did find a pair of Billy Boots.

The ferry ride was better going home but did not see any whales etc.. We styed outside the whole way to Blacks Harbour.
