Day 2 - Singapore - Garden by the Sea

Off we go in our new undies and our new clean Singapore t-shirts.  We are doing amazingly well with the 12 hour time change, excitement certainly helps.  Today we are taking the MRT into the city.  We happen across the Merlion pretty much right after we get off.  Not too many tourists around.  Lots of walking today, and it is hot hot hot out.

Our first views when we exited the MRT

Heritage statues are placed around the city

one of the 2 historical bridges that span the river

A little out of our price range, reminded us a little of the Banff SPrings Hotel

Merlion, our first visit here

Sands hotel with tour boat going by.  Notice how few tourists there are on board

We walked towards the Sands hotel, lots of amazing views that we have seen many times in the movies and on TV, still can't believe we are actually here.

First time we have ever seen 1 or 1 happy hour.

This was a banquet room at the Fullerton on the water, beautiful

FLowers and greenery everywhere, even in the city centre.  Singapore is a beautiful clean city

Andre bought a SG hat too, forgot about that until I saw this pic

At the Sands hotel: There is a mega mall which is partially underground.

Huge mall in the bottom of the sands hotel. Very high end stores, no shopping for us

Walkway going from Sands hotel to the Gardens of the Bay  The mirrors here were amazing, pic does not do it justice

We visited the 2 domes at Gardens by the Bay.  We will be back again for the night show one day, just too much to do everything in 1 day.  Loved the rainforest dome, the fog was amazing.  There was also a dahlia display for Chinese New Year, beautiful.

Inside the Flower Dome, even if you don't love flowers this is a great place to escape the heat

A pit stop and then we moved to the 2nd dome.

Good thing there was instruction!

Cloud Forest Dome, this was our favourite of the 2.  35 metre waterfall with mist at the entrance

We took the elevator to the top of the dome, then followed the walkway through all the exhibits on the way down.

YOu can see part of the walkway, you are taken in and out of the inside of the mountain and waterfall to view different exhibits

These were in the small orchid section, they had magnifying glass so you could see them, much smaller than a dime.

Off to Haji Lane, it is very quiet in the day so not too exciting.

Another subway trip, you can see how quiet it is, we rarely had to stand up and hold the handle for balance

Happy to have a clean shirt and noodles.  The shrimp were amazing!

Andre added some kind of meat unidentified ribs to his

Back to the hotel, it is so hot we really need a swim and to see if our luggage has arrived so we can change.  So happy to be able to get sandals on and a full change to lighter clothes.

Fines posted on subway, we never did try durian, but saw it often for sale on the street, always covered with plastic wrap

Yeah, luggage has arrived

A quick nap and then we are off again.

We decide to visit in Little India, told by someone we should be wearing masks, but he wasn't wearing one, very strange.  We had an excellent meal in Little India, but we have no idea what it was so can't order it again.

Temple in Little India, just remove your shoes, no shorts, no bare shoulders and you can enter

CHicken something or other, it was amazing.  Beautiful Naan bread.  This was a strange restaurant, outside says vegetarian, inside had chicken and other meats on the menu.

We saw these flower decorations being created in many spots in Little India, fun watching them being made.  Never saw anyone wearing them so we're not exactly sure what they were for, pretty sure it's something religious.
