Tree top walk & Medicine man

Up early this morning for a walk before breakfast. This morning it was more in the open by a lake close to camp to see the birds. Not too much action this morning, really a little disappointing, though I did see 2 toucans.

Back to camp for breakfast. After breakfast we head off to walk 8 suspension bridges, we were pretty close the tree tops, about 100 feet at times above the ground, I could have passed on this activity. They only let us go 5 at a time across each bridge, but it was still a little shaky for me. Plus he told us to watch where we grabbed on the rope because there were those nasty ants we were introduced to last night could be on the rope.

After the canopy suspension bridge walk we could either head back to camp and go to the next stop or participate in the 2 hour walk. Of course we chose the 2 hour walk which mostly consisted of just walking through the rain forest. We had another local guide with us that showed us how to find water from a tree, again we saw a rubber tree, and how they weave the leaves for their roves.

After the walk we canoed across the lake and then walked out to meet up with everyone else for lunch. The meeting point was at this beautiful lodge that had a pool! I think it took me 1 minute to get in my bathing suit, I have never felt so refreshed in my life as when I got into that pool!

We had pisco sours, and a couple of locals were playing instruments. We had a great lunch in a very impressive open area under a palapa.

After lunch there was a shaman there that did a traditional blessing for us and answered questions from us. There was also a younger women that was with him that is training to be a medicine woman. The ceremony was quite moving and very respectful.

We spent the afternoon boating on the amazing

Another beautiful sunset tonight

From here we headed back to our ship for much needed showers and a nap. Supper then it is time for a night skiff ride. Tonight we saw night monkeys, a couple of nocturnal birds, and the Southern Cross as well. The stars are amazing, and it is not even fully dark yet and still so many and so beautiful.

Tonight we are tied up along the Tigre River and venturing off from here tomorrow.
