Campobello Island Day 1

We are off to Campobello Island to spend 3 nights.   It is a 2.5 hour highway drive to St. George and the about 20 minutes to L'Etete.  Then a 20 minutes ferry to Deer island. A 20 minutes drive across Deer Island, then another 20 minutes ferry to Campobello Island and then a 15 minutes drive to the cottage we rented.  If all goes well it should take 4 1/2 hours.

The Deer island was full and we missed it by 4 cars, luckily the come every 30 minutes.  We also missed the Campobello Island by a few cars. The bad news the ferry only goes every hour. So the trip took us around 6 1/2 hours altogether.

At the Deer Island ferry terminal.

Some old house

Love this old Barn with second floor door.

Fisherman unloading seaweed.

Looks like a carnival game

2nd Deer Island Ferry
Have to stay in the car on the ferry, I am sure the views are great but we couldn't see a thing

Car in front row had a sunroof, this guy took advantage of it.

The Campobello Ferry that we could not get on as it was full

Luckily for me there was a campground canteen that was serving ice cream, so not a bad 1 hour wait for the next ferry.

Boats for the salmon pens

We are now onboard

We could get out of the car but stay next to it on this ferry

The shoes of Campobello Island

Where the ferry lands

Our cottage for the next 3 days

Once unpack we decide to go see the lighthouse at the tip of the island. It is almost a 2 KM walk each way but there is no traffic at all.

Lots of the garbage cans have boats on them
Almost like our old blue house but this one needed TLC

Lots of thistle along the road

Salmon pens

Hoping this will be us in 3 weeks from St Andrews with the grandkids.

Back at our cottage, we made supper as we took food with us. There only 3 or 4 restaurant that are open on the island.
