Campobello Island Day 4

 Our last day.

The fog has rolled in this morning. In bed you could hear 2 lighthouse fog horns going on all the time.

I leave early to go take foggy pictures as we don't have much fog where we live.

At time the fog was so heavy you could not see very far as in the first picture, the lighthouse was not visible

Workers at salmon pens

My next stop is at the wharf next to our cottage

A few pictures of our small cottage.  We loved it. The cottage was full of things to look at. Highly recommend it.

We decided to do a hike near upper duck pond and deep cove

A stop on the way there to Mulholland Point.

We do about 6 or 7 KM  in 3 hikes in the area
Many spider webs on this hike

Beaver dam

The fog is still around

Great hiking paths

Staff from the R. I. Park sweeping the hiking paths

A few flowers pictures that I took along the way today.

At Upper Duck Pond a family were fishing soft shell clams, wish we had a cooler, would have taken some home.
Abandon wheelbarrow that was once used to bring clams to shore

Wendy met a lady was was walking to lower duck pond which can only be done at the lowest point of low tide, 1 or 2 hour window.

On the trails again, very foggy. We could hear the fisherman on the fishing boats but could not see them.

Much needed washroom break

Markers for boat

After our hike we stopped at Friar's Bay to look for sand dollars.  Wendy found a small one.

We then headed to wait for the ferry.  Not so busy today as it is a Mon day and made both ferries.  You only pay for the Campobello ferry which is $27 each way.  The Deer Island to the mainland is free.

Here comes our first ferry

We are allowed to go outside and take pictures.

View of Deer Island Lighthouse and campground.

At the tip of Deer Island is the Old Sow whirlpool, the largest in the western hemisphere.

On the way to the ferry, we stop for ice cream at a recommended spot.

We stop in Pennfield for lunch at a small takeout.  The food was very good. Afterwards we stopped at McKays Blueberry stand to buy fresh wild blueberries.
