Day 3 Ruaha

Decided to stay in camp and have breakfast this morning and then start our safari at 8AM.  A nice breakfast, better than the box breakfast yesterday.  .
Windows on our tent, we never put the flaps down, didn't want to miss a thing going on outside!

Our tent #1, there is actually a tent #0 way at the end that would have been fantastic

Yellow Baboons in camp today

A baby albino yellow baboon

Giraffe coming to visit this tent

Started out at 8AM and within the first 15 minutes our guides came through with giraffes drinking.  This was one thing that we had told our guide that we really wanted to see, he definitely came through.

One of my favourite memories, giraffes on their way for a drink

I loved this spot, never too many pictures here, and we had just started our day!
Zebras are up next for their drink

Not nearly as awkward looking as the giraffe drinking

Snacking on flowers
Lesser Striped Swallow

Eastern Pale Chanting Goshawk

We also came across a leopard tortoise crossing the road

Elephant ears, amazing

We drove a little further today to the Great Ruaha river, some beautiful scenery

Grey Heron

Great White Egret

Lots of hippos out of the water

Crocs here too
Love the reflection here, how many jaws does he have?

Elephants came for a visit as well

Open bill stork

Marabou Stork with fish, and crocodile so close!

African Fish Eagle, looks so similar to our bald eagle at home

Look closely under the tree

Male Greater Kudu

Leopard climbing down tree, he left quickly

Water Thick Knee on her nest

At our lunch stop today these guys were hanging around, wish I could have lunch with them every day!

Grey Crowned Crane

Another lion sighting today

Eyelashes go on forever

Blacksmith Lapwing

Best backrest picture ever, we laughed so much at this guy

Leopard kill in tree, but no leopard around

Martial Eagle

Black Shouldered Kite
Bare-Faced Go-Away-Bird

During the day our total count for cats was 8 lions and 1 leopard.  Box lunch as well today, which we have liked every day.  We have also called out our guide Hussain on how he says “no” to us, lots of laughs with us and the driver and apprentice guide.  A very long draw out “nooo” when we ask a question.

Tonight’s supper was served outside  under the stars, we all loved that.  We are going to miss it here when we move on tomorrow.

A bit of a rough sleep tonight, the impala are very anxious about something and create so much noise.  They are so loud, that if we hadn’t heard their noise while out on safari we would have been afraid of what was out there I am sure.
