Nice First Full Day

Decent sleep last night. The only good thing about a terrible night sleep on the plane is the first night at destination is usually decent.

Breakfast of toasted leftover baguette done in a frying pan, no toaster here. Only a bit of smoke, luckily it is nice outside so windows are opened and no fire alarm went off, not sure there is even a fire alarm.

Off we go exploring. On the agenda today is to find tourist information and the train station so we can try to figure out what type of train tickets to buy. Long line up for train info, so over to tourist information, we now have about 50 brochures to read, prepare yourself Joey. Back to train station, 4 blind people get to go in the front of the line, it is posted here that all types of handicaps can jump lines here, it is the law, not sure that we have something like this in Canada, don't think we do. Decided to buy a reduction card that gives us 30% off of our tickets. We shall see if it is worth it at the end, I'm sure Andre will have a spreadsheet made up of all our purchases and whether it was worth it. We are thinking of trying it out tomorrow for our first out of Nice trip, no idea where yet, and it may turn out we just stay here, still lots more to see here.

Next on the list was a cord for Andres electric razor. Yes, razor came along, but charging cord is still at home. He has been cut off ice cream for the next two days to pay for the cord, good thing is he now had a cord that works in Europe without an adaptor, more Europe trips to come.

Another stop at the grocery store to pick up things we missed yesterday. 2 stops at what we would call dollar stores, we should be good now for a couple more days, and the apartment should be stocked for a bit anyway.

Back to the apartment and made delicious sandwiches for lunch, I could live on the bread alone here.

Rest up and we are off again for more exploring in the old town. Found some wine caves that we will explore further when Joey arrives. Planned on being home for supper but came across a place that made Socca, we had read about it but never had it, so 2 pieces of pizza, some Socca, and wine and supper is done. Socca is kind of like a pancake made of chick pea flour. Seemed pretty popular with the locals, we both liked it but not something I would want every day.

More wandering around the old town, including a climb up a hill to a dead end, thanks Andre. Another nice sunset tonight, quite a few people out and about. Around 7 PM this city kinda changes, the coffee shops and souvenir places are closing up, and the restaurants are opening up. Looking forward to tomorrow though I have no idea what we are doing yet.

20,000 steps. A good day of walking around. Now enjoying a nice red glass of French Cote du Rhone
