Campobello Day 2

This morning we spent the first part of it having breakfast and looking to see if we could spot whales but no luck.

Our first stop was Head Harbour Wharf. It is low tide. The tides here run about 20 feet.

The lobster fisherman here keep their lobster traps on floating docks.

Old wreck boats

We now stop at the beach in front of the pier restaurant where we look for sea glass. We find a fair bit.

A short stop at Cooks Point to look for whales but no luck

Abandoned smokehouse in wreck

We now head for Roosevelt International Park.

The buildings are not open to visit but the grounds are open.  They have beautiful flower gardens. We did a guided walking tour of the grounds which took about 1 hour and learned all about the history of this place.

We plan on doing the guided hike that goes on at 1:30.  We do lunch at The Porch. We sit outside on the porch and enjoy the view.  Delicious lunch of Fish cakes and sandwiches.

Back at the park for the hike to Friar's Head lookout.

Eastport Maine

On the way back to the information center we split from the group and hike to Mulholland Point Lighthouse.

Seals in the channel between the island and Maine

After returning to the information center, we drive to herring cove beach.

An ice cream stop is now in order as it is a beautiful and warm day.

Before heading back to the cottage we make one stop at the wharf at Head Harbour as it is now high tide.

A quick stop at the lighthouse at the end of the road. There a baby seal stuck in a rock.  He was still there the next day but not moving anymore.

From the lookout at the lighthouse we can see the whale watching tour boats.  We are lucky and see a couple of whales in the distance.

Back at the cottage for supper and another beautiful sunset.
