Woke up today to lots of rain, this
will be our first wash out day. We are a little disappointed, we'd
hoped to do 2 more hikes, but we can't complain, this has been our
only truly bad day.

Stopped at Cow Head to check the wharf but it was raining, so we did not even get out of the car.
Next stop was a visit to Lobster
Cove lighthouse.
We had stopped here briefly the other
day but only did the little walks around the lighthouse, today we
went to tour inside. We were lucky as a tour was just beginning when
we went in. The 30 minute tour that is usually given outside was
given inside, and turned into more than 1 hour. The guide was
fantastic, she was from Sallys Cove which is right down the road and
we heard many stories of the area and lighthouse keepers.
It was really raining hard now so we
have given up on any walks and spent the rest of the afternoon going
into tourist craft shops and then for lunch.
Fish & Chips and Fish Cakes & Homemade Beans for lunch. |
We also made a stop at the B&B in
Rocky Harbour to pick up the beer that we had forgotten to take with
us earlier in the week. Luck would have it, it was still in the
fridge, so we're good for a couple more beer tonight.
We have now checked into our hotel in
Deer Lake, getting caught up on the blog. The rain seems to have let
up so hopefully we'll get in one more walk as we have done basically
nothing today.
We walked to the lake from the hotel
and walk to the other corner of the lake. From there we walked to
Tim Hortos to pick up some chili for supper, which we reheated at the
hotel and enjoyed our beer/drinks that we picked up at the B&B
earlier.
This was #BeccaToldMeTo day, so we picked up a coffee for the front desk clerk and a small box of timbits.

This week has gone by so quickly, we
are already looking at maps to see where we could go next visit, this
is a beautiful province, with beautiful friendly people, we can't
wait to come back.
