Gros Morne - Boone Bay Tour

Up for an amazing breakfast this morning, bacon, eggs, hash browns, 2 kinds of muffins and scones. We're going to need to do a lot of hiking today!

First thing we do is go on the Bonne Bay boat tour this morning. It starts at 10AM, and we are surprised when we pull into the parking lot and we are the only ones there. We went to check in and find out we are on a tour where we are the only 2 individual people along with a tour group of 40 people. We debated about changing to the later trip, but decided to stay on board and were glad we did. There was lots of room on the boat, no problems getting seats up top today. This was a totally different tour from yesterday, this was following the shore of Bonne Bay. Turns out the tour group got off the boat in Woody Point, so I'm sure it was a bit of a different tour that the usual tour.

Our wildlife sightings today on the tour are some bald eagles, including a very young one, a family of otters, schools of mackerel, and a minke whale.

National Geographic Expedition Cruise, Can you say $$$$.

The crew also played some instruments and we heard some Nfld music, a fun tour.

Our next door neighbours from NB happened to be in NFLD the same time as us and we had planned on meeting them at some point today.  When we arrived back on shore Don and Eileen were waiting for us. We started of by having some lunch with them in Rocky Harbour, then they took us off to show us some of their favourite spots around. Eileen and I drove together, and Don and Andre drove together as they would not be returning to Rocky Harbour with us.

Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pie. Wendy had to steal a taste

First stop was West Brook, we actually had a bit of a laugh because this was the place we turned around earlier yesterday when Andre had us going totally in the wrong direction. A beautiful view of the river joining to the ocean, we will be back to take more pictures.

Next off we stopped right before broom point where there is an old cemetery and again a beautiful beach. I guess Andre is saving all these pictures for another day as we will revisit here as well.

The cove and beach are really nicer than this, but Andre forgot to take a picture of the whole thing.

But he got a picture of a bunch of stones. These are perfect for skipping on the water

Getting ready to fly south soon, I hope.

Final stop was in Cow Head where we did the walk to the lighthouse and around to the head. All of these were great walks which we never would have known about on our own, they are not really in the guide books.

One of the lookout on the hike. Looking north for miles

Another lookout. Small island.

Kind of a spooky walk?

We left Don and Eileen in Cow Head and back to Rocky Harbour where we did a quick stop at our B&B before going to the Anchor Away show.

We got there at 6:15, they show started at 8:00Pm and we were one of the last arrivals. We had supper in the bar, then a couple of drinks. Two woman joined us at our table for 4 so it was fun to get to know them a little and hear about their travels. They were from BC and were on a hiking tour, they had hiked Gros Morne today and I think they had really scared themselves. Eight of them did it with a guide, and they said it was really windy, youngest was 59 and oldest was late 70's, very impressive. They show was very entertaining, such talented musicians, and lots of good jokes and stories to keep it very entertaining.
