Geysers

Headed north 80 kms in the dark on very windy roads.  They get you started very early as once the sun comes up you don't have the experience of the steam of the geysers.  Today we only had a driver again, who also acted as our guide.  Pickup at 4AM, then drive around picking others up, but lucked into front row seating again, popped some gravol, and good to go.

Most of the drive is in the pitch black dark outside, van after van following each other to the Geysers.  This is a very popular tour.

First views of the hot springs, very impressive in the early morning light

The largest Geyser, we were slightly underwhelmed as it is maximum 2 meters high.  But the number of geysers was very impressive.  Guess we will need to go visit Old Faithful one day...

Frost on the bushes, this is the coldest day we had in Atacama, -6C.

Breakfast stop, not the most beautiful spot to stop compared to other places we have stopped

Abandoned mining town for sulpher

These flamingos were right beside the road.  I could have stayed here and watched for hours, there were 100's of them

so many flamingos in the water, light was terrible for pictures

Only cactus we saw, wish the driver would have stopped

We have an early evening flight booked, back to our hotel which we had to check out of before we left today.  Spend a couple of hours in the hotel "lobby" with dogs and others waiting to either check in or for their ride to the airport.  We both manage a nap, get a pizza to share , and we are off to Santiago.
Wish we were flying private jet.

Surprised to get Canada Dry on the plane

Views of the Andes leaving Calama to Santiago. We had window middle, the woman sitting in the aisle recorded the entire take off and landing of the plane.  No English, but we were all laughing about it.
